My name is James and I'm currently doing a Advance Diploma of Multimedia : Games Development course at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. Part of my 2 year course, I need to conduct a survey that is tied with my final project. If you kindly could state your age, gender and your favorite game genera along with an answer from the multiple choice questions. These questions are based on my final project, in which I alone have to create a demo of a game. I said interchangeable, because I don't really hold a preference. I like the camera in Gears Of War as much as I like it in Half-life 2.

I will leave this one blank, because I've never played any of those. Never. Any.

B) Fast pace action
:Mostly a fine balance between A and B, but if a story isn't necessary to make a good game (Unreal Tournament francise, anyone?). Gameplay is. And if you try to make a good story and fail, it will hurt more than doing the same with gameplay.

8. In the classic arcade scrolling shooters, which appealed to you:

D) The Boss fights

I like them, because they were a change of tactics. I still like all boss fights which change the usual formula.

9. Which would you prefer in a game:

B) Different camera angles for different situations (Side view for inside a ship then Birds eye when out)
D) Dynamic gameplay (select your path, activate goals/ triggers for bonus levels, upgrade)

I'm assuming we're supposed to choose two, because I can't really tell how AB and CD are related.

10. What do you prefer as a reward for your efforts:

A) Cut-scenes
B) New weaponry

I chose two, because it depends on the story of the game. If it's something I really find myself interested in, then I ould pick the cutscene (besides, cutscenes tend to look pretty too). If the story is "meh", then I'd take new weapons.

11. How do you acquire your games:

A) Purchase at a store

Question 9 was very stupid.... you want me to choose either one out of two camera angles or one out of two gameplay styles?

Also a lot of these it was unclear whether you meant for any game or an arcade game. I'd prefer customizable weaponry to a decent story in an arcade style space side-scroller, but i prefer story in an FPS on a console or whatever.

Because shoot em ups aren't meant to be complicated. The whole idea is to blow up as many things as possible, as flamboyantly as possible.

Anything that delays this is pointless and in the wrong medium.
