I know I don't like hearing the words jumped the shark because only people who like to fell smart say them but it is true. I was reminded of this by the last episode of Southpark, all characters were acting weird nothing made since at all the hole thing was just to leave some dumb message about Disney or something. King of the hill did the smart thing by going off air before it ruined it self.Same for the Simpsons I don't give it long till it is off the air too (remember the longest running show ever). These were some of the only things I thought were worth while on TV and now they are gone. They seem like family guy plagued a big disease on fox or something.

I know I shouldn't be up set over TV but now the only thing to watch is all the same other bull shit that isn't funny or entertaining. I know there are shows like lost or house but I have to admit I quit watching them because it was just got so repetitive and boring. I feel like this age was the 70's equivalent for music. Now just like music it is going down the mother fucking shit covered tubes.

Lets face it. The internet really IS the future.

My favorite singer/actor is Miley Cyrus. What are you going to do about it?

I think he's referring to punk rock, rather than music as a whole. I'd have to agree if that were the case, because, aside from a few bands in recent years, it's an almost extinct genre.

It's true, television sucks... it has sucked for years. Although I do enjoy a few shows that are on every once in a while. I think the basic cable set is all you need, hundreds of channels and there's nothing but crap on everyone one of them... who really needs all that?

Actually, I was watching a newish episode of The Simpsons earlier now that you mention it. I'm going to go through it step by step, despite it making me confused and angry. Yeah, the thing I do for Newgrounds, eh?

1.) Bart is an idiot in Kwik-E-Mart, Homer goes to buy scratch card, but has to save Bart from falling off a display.

2.) Lenny buys the scratch card, and wins $50,000. Homer gets angry. Marge seems understanding, but then also gets angry.

3.) Lenny holds a party for his friends using the money. Bart sneaks away and reprogrammes a bunch of vacuuming robots to turn evil. The party is ruined.

4.) Bart gets yelled at, and goes to the bathroom. He meets an identical twin who happens to be filthy rich. An adult version of Bart comes in, makes one "joke" and leaves.

5.) Predictable Prince and the Pauper plot. (Alliteration!) Some American football player has a guest spot, but it's highly pointless.

6.) Rich kids try to kill Bart because he's supposed to be getting the family's inheritance. UnBart comes clean to the Simpsons. Everyone goes to Aspen. Dull things occur.

7.) Everything goes back to normal.

Does that sound funny? If you said "no", you've just won thirty-two thousand pounds! I know it's been said thousands of times before, but this episode tonight just made me wonder why we even have a TV in this house. You can say I've changed, not the show, but I still find early Simpsons episodes hilarious. Even some of the early-middle ones are great, like Frank Grimes. I don't watch enough TV to comment on other shows, to be honest. This was a one-off.

This episode's Wikipedia article.

I was going to link to JumpingTheShark.com, since it's relevant and had some amusing comments. However, it has now moved and looks all different, so you might find less comedy there.

Try The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I think they're as good as ever!

I'm dancing on its grave, I assure you.
There's no need to be so melodramatic over several TV shows becoming shit, anyway. There's always good shows, you just have to not be a fag and be willing to change with the times.
Just like with music. Of course you're not going to like the 80's if you don't adapt from the shitty disco music of the 70's.

Or whatever.

An old TV show has two options

1. Jump the shark (like the shows you mentioned)
2. Stay exactly the same and formulaic until the show becomes boring (like Law & Order)

Either way, a once great show will turn into crap.

If you can't find anything good in certain genres, then you don't like music. Or you're being a stubborn dick because you think only gangstas listen to rap.

How would it becoming boring be different than jumping the shark? Jumping the shark is when a shows becomes bad, and that's #2.

Hmm, I was going to post here the other day but quickly forgot what I was going to say... I agree that Family Guy is a cancer on the animated series on FOX but King of the Hill hasn't ended yet, it will soon, but not YET... Also, The Simpsons won't die for AT LEAST another 4 seasons... Since they're signed until Season 24. WHOA! Furthermore, South Park jumping the shark is a little hard to predict since the show has ALWAYS been ridiculous, last week's episode was pretty run of the mill.

Also, when searching "Jumping the Shark King of the Hill" on Google, is it only a COINCIDENCE that I find a thread with the EXACT same title saying the EXACT same thing at some other forum posted by DanTheBard?

that new South Park episode was awesome, you're all just so absorbed in 'New stuff sucks, it was always better a long time ago' bullshit. Sure, things get good and then they become not-so-good, but you are all just trying to be part of the group and you only look at the bad part of new stuff. You look all over the forums, there are people who complain about how the forums aren;t how they used to be, or how music sucks if it's new. Bull shit. Stop being stupid little whiny bastards and enjoy the good stuff, Such as South Park. South Park is an amazing show, and it still is, and the new episodes coming out will be as awesome as ever.

South Park is actually better than most of the things that are on. I mean, I still laugh at it. The rest of TV, well... Welcome to 2006, when TV as I used to know it finally went down the drain.
