Actually, I was watching a newish episode of The Simpsons earlier now that you mention it. I'm going to go through it step by step, despite it making me confused and angry. Yeah, the thing I do for Newgrounds, eh?
1.) Bart is an idiot in Kwik-E-Mart, Homer goes to buy scratch card, but has to save Bart from falling off a display.
2.) Lenny buys the scratch card, and wins $50,000. Homer gets angry. Marge seems understanding, but then also gets angry.
3.) Lenny holds a party for his friends using the money. Bart sneaks away and reprogrammes a bunch of vacuuming robots to turn evil. The party is ruined.
4.) Bart gets yelled at, and goes to the bathroom. He meets an identical twin who happens to be filthy rich. An adult version of Bart comes in, makes one "joke" and leaves.
5.) Predictable Prince and the Pauper plot. (Alliteration!) Some American football player has a guest spot, but it's highly pointless.
6.) Rich kids try to kill Bart because he's supposed to be getting the family's inheritance. UnBart comes clean to the Simpsons. Everyone goes to Aspen. Dull things occur.
7.) Everything goes back to normal.
Does that sound funny? If you said "no", you've just won thirty-two thousand pounds! I know it's been said thousands of times before, but this episode tonight just made me wonder why we even have a TV in this house. You can say I've changed, not the show, but I still find early Simpsons episodes hilarious. Even some of the early-middle ones are great, like Frank Grimes. I don't watch enough TV to comment on other shows, to be honest. This was a one-off.
This episode's Wikipedia article.
I was going to link to JumpingTheShark.com, since it's relevant and had some amusing comments. However, it has now moved and looks all different, so you might find less comedy there.
