3.79 / 5.00 3,779 ViewsAfter watching the Resident Evil 5 review, it's official--the video game industry is failing. RE5 got a 3/5 from X-Play, and the reviews aren't any better anywhere else. Is it just me, or are many games from this time disappointing? I remember how freakin' awesome games like Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros Melee were. But, it seems now that instead of 1/4 of games being good, it's about 1/20.

If you're using a sniper rifle, it's called sniping. When you're NOT using a sniper rifle, it's called camping.
"and the reviews aren't any better anywhere else"
Metacritic much?
Besides you've given one example of a bad game without listing all the brilliant ones that have come out. Just because Capcom has lost the survival horror vibe doesn't mean the industry's going down the crapper.
X-Play is the Fox News of gaming. You're better off reading off of IGN.
That's just sad...

This is the day where Video games start getting unoriginal. Everyone tries to make games of games that made it higher up. Look at Killzone I even call it Gears of War and I haven't even played it. Think about it this way.

Practically everything's already been done to death. How about you get off your lazy ass and come up with something original to save the gaming industry?

to actually answer the OP's question i think gaming has gone down, hyped games are turning out to be crap and good franchises are being butchered by horrible remakes. Although this year there are some games that look pretty good only a few this year and past have actually been good

Oh No! X-Play gave a bad review of Resident Evil 5. The world of video gaming is coming to an end! Besides IGN gave it a 9 out of 10. If you don't trust that source then Game Informer gave it a 9.5 out of 10.

Oh well, since I hace this thing called "Judgement" I can just look at gameplay videos for myself and see if the game is good for myself, I will even try it if possible.
THis is better than just blindly listening to the biased opinion of some faggot working at IGN or whatever, if you really want an accurate score at least go to metacritic.

After ONE review?
RE5 got a 3/5 from X-Play, and the reviews aren't any better anywhere else.
All reviews are is a published opinion, no more noteworthy than yours or mine.
Is it just me, or are many games from this time disappointing?
if you judge a game's enjoyment factor on other people's opinion of it I pity you. I like Gears of War 2 much more than the original, but if I listened to the majority (or more accurately, the twats that cry the loudest) I wouldn't
I remember how freakin' awesome games like Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros Melee were. But, it seems now that instead of 1/4 of games being good, it's about 1/20.
a) More games are being released
b) People aren't being as frivolous with their cash as they used to be (i.e. companies must make "safer" choices)
c) As hardware improves, it becomes more difficult for Developers to make a title that lives up to it's potential
d) There are more reviewers these days, and the internet boom makes sure these opinions circle quickly.
Basically it's retarded to think the game industry is reclining because of one game. The game industry is actually the strongest it ever has been.
There are plenty of blockbuster titles, but they are catered towards their demographic more accurately than what they used to be. That's why you'll get varying "quality".
If I were to review FIFA 2010 I'd give it a 1/10, sports games are a waste of money in my opinion, but I can see why they'll be seen as gold dust to the target market.
User reviews are usually more reliable than "professional" reviews, whereas rentals are even better.

It's true, though, that the average game, nowadays, isn't as challenging as their older counterparts, and quite frankly, I like a good challenge. :)

Let's use factual evidence instead. Right now, RE5 is the highest sold game across the world this month, for both 360 and PS3.
