ah yes, I used to operate off the very same values :D! Harsh reality is he's going to be working 10 hour shifts nearly every day, for nothing, start growing bitter and angry (which helps write battle music ;D), start missing social life, make nothing while everybody else around him earns something with the time they used, which will eventually break his spirit.

Sure some of those people may throw him a bone here and there in gratitude, but how long can he work 10 hour shifts on music, and then worry about getting a real job to start paying bills? Of course the better question is, how long can he love his craft if he has to do it 10 hours a day every day?

I'll give him a year tops. But who knows, I could be very wrong, to this person, I wish him the best of luck :D!

Of course, this could be a group of people. Either way, I don't understand the reason for this thread in the first place. Is the opening poster trying to promote the site? I do think there are better ways to promote that rather than in a forum where you have many very qualified competitors (like MaestroRage above me).
But agreed with Maestro on what he says. It'd be wonderful to just live life writing music, but we all need to live, eat, and pay rent (or mortgage). But best of luck to that person and his pursuits.
