Sonic: Pros and Cons

Okay, we all know Sonic Sucks and is going downhill. But Isn't there something you like about the Blue Hedgehog? Heres my Personal list of Pros and cons:

Pros:

The songs are extremely catchy ( Especially Sonic 2 Chemical Plant zone and Sonic Unleashed)

Colorful backgrounds

Running fast speeding by the backgrounds

Well Detailed Graphics

Made a great addition to Brawl's cast

Cons

Characters are fucking annoying as hell ( Mainly Amy, Cream, Silver, Big, Rouge, Blaze and especially Shadow)

Voice Acting sucks ass

The controls in most Sonic games can be really awkward at times

The new Gen Sonic acts like a douche and looks like a fag with his green eys. I want the pudgy sonic back!

Sega Rips off a lot of Nintendo elements such as the Princess Rescuing from Sonic 2006 which is sort of like Mario , The Ability to Turn into a Werehog in Sonic unleashed which is like the Twilight Princess, and so forth.

Storylines are Extremely corny ( I'm talking to you Sonic 2006 and Secret Rings)

Sonic X. Worst video game TV series ever.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. More cons then pros. What's your opinion on this? Do you agree with my pros and cons?

I agree with you there. The biggest con is that it refuses to acknowledge its biggest pro: running really, really fast. Sonic Team just seem content to shovel every game mechanic into their games without a thought for quality.

Another con is the rabid fanbase that defends the franchise, even when they pump out shit game after shit game. It's fans like those that keep the shit games coming.

It was then that i realized that Sonic was a douche bag and there was no going back... it was as if his personality was created by a 7 year old. Those cartoons where horrible and complelty smashed the image of Sonic that I had built up in my head for many years.

His lame friends didn't help either. Do we really need "Sonic AND FRIENDS?"... what was wrong with just Sonic? I accepted Tails only because he was an excuse to create a 2player mode. They should have never created any other friends.

Then his popularity got out of control and I couldn't stand to see people buying into it. I suddenly realized that anybody who thought that cartoon was cool was a fucking tool and I didn't want to be associated with those types of people in any way, shape, or form. Next thing I knew, he was the spokesperson for a shitty hotel company and had a pinball game... how fucking lame could he get? I had no idea what was coming my way...

Nothing has improved... it's all just gotten worse. The games suck, the crossover titles are worse then ever (Sonic in the olympics... vs Mario?), and the fans are more annoying then ever.

The way I see it, there are no 'pros' to Sonic. Those died 3 months after the release of sonic 2.

It's not like Nintendo held copyrights to those two elements. They probably got the idea somewhere else.

But yeah, I definitely agree that the Sonic games now are really shitty, with the exception of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. That one was a pretty decent RPG. And I've yet to try Sonic Unleashed or Sonic and the Black Knight, so I don't have an opinion on either of these games as of yet.

Still, in games like Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic Heroes...ugh. Why, SEGA, why?!

Yeah i see what you mean with sonic's new personnality.i also agree with you about cartoons.(well thats if you mean Sonic X that is.)Sonic X is possibly one of the worst shows ever made.its so bad,its actually embarrising to watch.i cant believe i used to watch that crap.although,the adventures of sonic the hedgehog cartoon was cool.at least i think it is.

I disagree with you on Sonic Heroes.i thought it was quite a fun game,and it was one of my favorites when i was younger.it just suffered from clunky controls.

Why do people always have to go and bad mouth sonic. I'm not getting angry with the creator of this thread or anyone who's posted here, because your just stating your opinion, but I do have to point out a few things.

True, the latest sonic games have been pretty bad (secret rings I'm looking at you) with the exception of chronicles and unleashed, and I'm only saying unleashed because it got back to basics for sonic, but the werehog thing was going way over board.

The shows were made and have always been meant for little kids, (why do you think teenagers started drawing hentai?) so you can't blame them for crappy voices, cliches, and bad story archs, because kids eat that stuff up

I'm a die hard sonic fan since the beginning and I've adapted and can admit to the shit, but have we all forgotten why we loved him in the first place?

Well, I mean it's hard to point her out as a bad character, because she made her debut in one of the best Sonic games: Sonic CD. I'd say Shadow is where things went downhill.

True, but like I said in my previous post, having only 2 characters is plain boring. At the same time, having too many characters is annoying unless each has a very unique ability.

Not always. Sonic Unleashed: Chip had a HUGE impact in the plot. Shadow made a huge impact in SA2B.
Most others only made minor contribution like Omega in Sonic Heroes. He made a bigger impact in Shadow the Hedgehog later. You will never know what huge role the characters will play in later in the future Sonic games.

Every OTHER character. Take Amy out of Sonic the Hedgehog. There's NO DIFFERENCE. TAke Cream out. No difference. Take Rouge, Omega, etc. Out. NO DIFFERENCE.

Awkward 3D play

What's so awkward about it? It works fine to me.

Aside from the camera angles going batshit crazy, and the fact that you can't tell where the fuck your going half the time, nothing.

This is what I hate about game reviewing. I said "Bland characters", not "More bland characters than ____". I don't need a fucking comparison. So Mario doesn't have new, original characters. I wasn't talking about that series. Nintendo fucking sold out. Also, in pretty much every game, you have ONE character that stands out. The only difference between characters in the new Sonic games is how many minutes you can stand before you get driven insane by them

Next time, to prevent users from flaming your opinion very harshly, have evidence to back up your point. Just a word of advice. (like have evidence about awkward 3D game play.) That's what I normally do and it's usually a good flame shield.

I remember playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle back then, I actually liked Shadow. He was cool, mysterious, and almost as fast as Sonic. I was so sad when he died in the end, but then they bring him back in Shadow the Hedgehog, and from there he started sucking balls. JUST LET HIM FUCKING DIE!
