I've been on portal defenders and got myself a couple of awards (Four). They may be entertaining to collect, but what is the purpose of them? The points system hasn't got me into collecting them at all. The playStation 3 has trophies, but that's a different kind of thing to this.

Don't play a game just to get the points, I remember a day when playing a game was just about having fun and not having "bragging" rights that nobody is going to care about in a year or so.

Levelling up and gold, silver and bronze trophies (and platinum, but I don't know anyone who's got one yet.) They're better for bragging about too.

People love whoring stats, and it helps making the game more addictive if there's a goal you want to achieve.

If you're a stat whore like me, you'd enjoy this new medal system.
To some people, it's like a competition to see who can hold the top spot for most points. I'm a pretty competitive person when it comes to damn-near anything. This is about the only thing on Newgrounds that I could even have a shot at at being in the top spot on any stat since I've been a member here. I started way too late to get to the top of the experience, blams, and saves lists.
Not to mention it keeps you interested longer in games on Newgrounds that you may have not thought about playing once or twice otherwise.

there's always a point to medals, but it gets on your nerves if your a bit of a whore and want it, then it takes like 60hours of gaming to get..

No, the achievements are fucking hard, it doesn't worth it.
They do nothing. Since they do nothing and I don't really view many flashes on Newgrounds anymore, I don't see the point in it. It's an interesting concept and all, but it's not going to grip me just yet.
I'm not wasting my time trying to win them. If I so happen to come upon a game with them, and get some, then so be it. I hardly watch or play the flash content anymore unless it's something that particularly sparks my interest, but most NG original content coming out of the tubes these days lack that.
