Hypothetically speaking.
A product comes out, the rating and targeted demographic is clear within the compounds of the product--not meant for kids, therefore, being a parent, to help protect your child, or to prevent them from succumbing to the wrong influence, you don't purchase that item for them. You continue to give them things within or barely within their age range, enough to have a clean time, with the family.
You are a casual gamer parent.
You have chosen not to purchase this item, because as a casual gamer and a parent, it is not in your, or your child's best interest. Not your concern, not your problem.
So why the fuck would you worry about a M rated game for your console if you refuse to buy it?
I just don't get it.
I mean, do people worry about the integrity of the cinema community every time an R rated movie comes out?
Would you buy your child lubricant?
No, because it is not within their age range.
So if you're not going to buy it, why worry about it? Keep playing your shit, and leave that particular game alone.
Hypothetically speaking of course, because people are not that smart, as proven in the link above.
Discuss.

its like the opposite of us whining that the wii has to many dumb family friendly shovelware. One violent game comes out and the media goes insane. Nintendo has always made games for all ages, and we all know they haven't been delivering to hardcore gamers and ones that like violence. Like you said, they don't hae to buy it and allot o companies are interested in the wii's unique controller.
Although these are the kinds of comments I would expect from yahoo

good point
this is not a specific point of 'its annoying when people whine about violent games being a negative influence on their kids when they don't have to buy it for there kids'
its annoying when people complain about anything that they never have to associate with or have effect them
theres a ton of examples of this, this is just the most obvious one
What about people complaining in Australia about fast food being to fatty
What the fuck do they expect?? GODDAMN MCDONALDS HEALTHY CHOICE MENU

There have been several groups saying this because of MadWorld coming out and there was a particular article on Destructoid I read that especially hit home for my feelings on it. Here it is. The basic argument against these people is to remind them that they don't own the Wii or Nintendo and they have no right to demand that the company only make certain types of games that in particular are in line with their views. A more realistic way of retorting is, "Who the fuck do you think you are?"
In the end, those groups will keep bitching but they will ultimately have no impact on what Nintendo does for the Wii, and personally I hope the impending great sales of MadWorld (because if you've seen the game play for MadWorld, you know its sales are going to be great) will inspire Nintendo to make similar entertaining games in the future.

this is what im talking about,
the wii has become so flooded with children's bullshit that nobody wants to even associate themselves with (let alone play) that when a quality gore-fest that we've all been waiting for comes along, suddenly people are blown away and offended!
and it has a honking big 'M' on it specifically meaning that your spoiled 10 year old brat is NOT supposed to play or even own it.
*sigh*I thought this bullcrap would go away when Jack Thompson was disbarred.

Another group?
This happened once before with another of those groups and I felt the same way as you. One game out of hundreds of shovelware games causes a stir.
Want to know something funny? VHS beat betamax because VHS allowed porn on their videos.

You lost me... What does the release of a violent video game on a console previously known for it's family-friendly ethics have to do with casual gamers?
Not being a dick, just confused.

I was also wondering that. The reward was supposedly getting to nail the hot french chick.
SPOILER: In the end, the promise was just about as good as the one for cake

It was censored in Europe and Australia. Something about turning people into ash doesn't seem as satisfying as raining blood.

Wasn't there just a house of the dead and dead rising game released on the Wii? Were neither of those rated M? Why it's such a massive deal that Nintendo is allowing a few games for older players onto the system. I guess seeing as how the Wii is known as the more family/kid friendly system it may not be a terrible idea to make sure parents hear about the game and know to avoid buying it for little billy without noticing the itty bitty need a magnifying glass to see it "Rated M" on front of the game I mean... what the hell is that about anyway? Is it like a review score or something?
E=Entertaining T=Tolerable M=Marvelous? so AO must = Absolutely Outstanding, but I've yet to see a game make it to shelves with that rating, developers need to try harder.
I hope the world doesn't end in 2012, I want a generation not afraid of technology to start running shit before I die.

Once kids get to be like ten they should be able to play any game (not online) they want.
Little kids (obviously under 10) don't know what is right, wrong, what they like, don't like, etc. They would be the only ones that shouldn't play violent video games.
Older kids know better, and wouldn't be freaked out by some excessively violent game (well...maybe madworld. maybe).
It's up to the parents to decide if the kids can or cna't play certain games. Not the ESRB. if the parent thinks the kids is okay for playing games such as madworld, let them. If not, hide the game, don't play it when the kids are home, or just don't buy it.
Kids should only be banned from online games, until they are know how to behave properly on games with other people.

"Not that smart" doesn't begin to describe it, friend. It's amazing that watchdog groups get THIS uptight over a goddamned video game with mature content. Fuck, if we're going by this mentality, we might as well riot against that Happy Tree Pals (Or whatever the fuck that show's called) game on Live.
