'If' this daughter does exist and you're being legit then it's obvious you spoil her to an unbelievable level.

I'm heading towards my 20th but I see it as nothing special. Just another birthday like the many more prior and the many more to come.

I think its an awesome gift. I think most 20 year old girls would kill to have a car like that.

I'd wait and let her pick the color, but that's just me. If you feel like she'll like the pink, go for it. Its not like you couldn't get a new paint job on it a little on down the road, anyway.

Best of luck.

Actually your wrong I ordinarily dont spoil her at all. This would be the first time I have bought her something of any great significant value at all. She likes the small things in life. But she has pride enough to work hard for what she wants, even though she does'nt have to. I could support her comfortably but she does'nt want that. She even has aspirations of buying her own home in the next couple of years, which I greatly admire and respect her for. Makes me a very proud parent I can assure you.

Listen, she's 20. I think you should give her the car raw, because in about three years, she'll probably stop loving Hot Pink and all that jazz.

It would still be a great present.

I personally feel your boasting a bit, unsavoury, to put it politely.

Whether you intend it or not you seem a bit up yourself. I myself am comfortable with my financial situation, but I wouldn't consider making an outward effort in rubbing it in stranger's faces.

I assumed that with good fortune came humility, but it doesn't seem evident here.

I'll be moving in tomorrow...

Look dude, I've came from a variation of low to upper class lifestyles. I've got family that can barely afford the fuel in their car and simultaneously have others who can barley decide what top of the range SUV they want.

You've spoiled her even if you haven't realised it.

You are officially the coolest Dad... ON NEWGROUNDS!!!

Also I didn't read all the rest of the posts so I'm just going to add my opinion of the color anyway. I don't know your daughter (yet ;) but I'm assuming at her age having a Hot Pink car would seem kind of childish. If she is grateful she'll love it no matter what color it is. But you could always after giving it to her offer her to have it painted any color she wants.

Your entitled to your opinion as is everybody, I have no problem with that. But because I ask for some advice/opinions from the younger generation on NG, you somehow assume that I have no humility, that I am up myself, and rubbing it in peoples faces, (not intended by the way). Interesting, albeit an incorrect assumption. Fair enough I sometimes forget that not everyone is in my shoes financially but it certainly was'nt meant to sound boasty in any way. And it was directed at the youth of NG who I naturally "assume" (thats a bad thing) obviously are not as financially secure as myself. Oh well, it seems your the only person to reply to this thread with that opinion. (But again your entitled to that.) And to that end I am slightly shocked. I'm just a dad trying to be the best I can for my daughter. And for the first time that I buy her something major, without her knowledge, I want it to be right and good. If thats wrong then lynch me. Sorry if I offended you, or anyone else for that matter. I was just interested mainly in the opinions of others in regards to the colour situation, ie giving her a choice or going ahead with it myself and making it a real surprise. But if thats too much to ask? Well I just dont know. Once again I would like to thank everyone for your replies. Including your good self.

Ha ha, damn dude. If I were your daughter I would shit my pants in appreciation. Like, promptly--on the spot. Then I'd shower, withdraw 500 dollars from my checking account, start driving and never stop.

I'm assuming it's a 5-speed? Get rid of that awful fucking erector-set wing on the back. Blegh. Put on a classy spoiler or not one at all.

Is the steering wheel on the right side? I thought they weren't selling skylines in the States in '05? I've got this pipedream of getting myself a bone-stock Supra TT hardtop... but they're pretty rare and much more costly than I can currently afford.

How many people are in the family and how many cars do you already have? If your answers are 4 and 2, I'd say yes. Anything lesser I wouldn't recommend.

Yes, its a 5 speed, and I hate the wing too, but she loves the damn things, I prefer no wing myself but at speed they are quite helpful. Certain cars yes wing, certain cars no wing. Yes, Steering wheel is on the right, Australian version, and its actually late 11/04 plated 03/05, so here its considered an 05 model. And you know what? Your right, I probably wont see her for a month either.

I wasn't saying that you were up yourself, is what I perceived yourself to be. It wasn't drawn from the original post solely, more the overall tone of your replies.

I probably jumped to the wrong conclusion (especially seeing your reply now), and for that I apologise.

You're taking it a bit extreme, I don't think you should be lynched, nor is it offensive to me, just an observation I made and conclusion I drew.

I'm sure she shall love it, but I personally would leave the options for customisation for after you present her the car. If she wants it hot pink then it can be done then, but if she wanted it differently you haven't wasted time/effort in making something unwanted.

2 in the family, just me and her, 2 dogs also. (Ditched the wife a while ago now). And if I told you I have six cars myself, bought over time, I hope you dont consider it boasting, I've already been accused of that once already tonight, I'm just answering your question. She already has one but this one will be more for track use than anything else, its race ready, although it is fully street legal. JUST.

That monster looks awesome as it is. It'd look a bit of a mess if it was pink to be honest, and the value would drop like a boulder.

And there's nothing wrong with that rear wing mister, it actually looks like it's a standard one that you see on every other regular untouched Skyline.

Your slightly older than me daughter is very lucky. And I've just discovered that Oz folk drive on the same side as I do :P

To be quite honest, I fucking hate getting handouts from my parents. I like the feeling of independence I get from making my own purchases. It feels more like blackmail than a gift, but that could be because they've already paid for so much and I feel so indebted to them.

Of course, your daughter probably doesn't have near the same personality I do and would love the car and be grateful for it. So I say if you do decide to give her the car, take TropicalParadise's advice and offer to pay for any modifications/painting that she wants.

If she's getting 100K worth of presents for her 20th birthday, she's obviously been living in the lap of luxury for quite some time.
