I think the only person to be really ashamed is the poster with 50,000+ posts. There's certainly not much going on in that person's life.

This makes me feel simultaneously good and bad about myself.

I don't know whether you can safely say that. If he only posts here during work hours it's quite easy to get that.

If all he did was post in every topic to appear, with the typical one-liner that most people manage he'd have it no time.

So, how does this site track the 500 accounts that are at the top?

If I remember correctly a guy called ShittyKitty made something similar back in 03/04 that would track all the users posting regularly, and set them up in a format similar to yours. However Wade went apeshit saying it was a severe strain on the NG servers and was similar to a DDoS attack and implored him to stop it along with an attached threat of deletion and a call to the FBI. I have no idea if this is the same as what this site is doing but I thought I'd throw it out there for your consideration.

every 1 hour it queries the userpage and takes the postcount. It's the same as me loading the page in my browser, 700 times. It'll affect the servers ever so slightly, but they're capable of handling massive amounts of users, so an extra 700 page loads won't affect them too much, however if Wade wants to go apeshit, he can and I'll remove it.

Every 1 hour it takes every username from the database, loads up <user>.newgrounds.com, fetches their postcount then adds it to the DB then it displays the top 500.

Then I can see that it's the exact same as the older program I mentioned in my previous post. I know there's been additional servers added and whatnot since that time, but what happens when your database starts to grow more and more? You could be querying thousands of pages every hour and then I could see why Wade might go off the rail and have to do something about it. I guess the only person who could tell you if it's alright would be Wade himself. Best of luck with that.

I understand what you're saying, but it makes very little sense. Since 2003/4 newgrounds has been massively overhauled, server and programming wise, everytime I query a page it's using very little bandwidth and the database queries on NGs side are also very minimal. If Wade wants me to remove it, I will, however I can't see that happening.

Nice to see this back up. Like I said in the previous thread, this will help me finding high posters for my pentalist updates, so I'm glad to see this back up. As for where I am on the list, I see I'm still in the top 20 as well as seeing others who are likely to pass me in post count soon enough. However quick those other posters are, I'm still going with my snail-ish posting rate. :P
