Death Metal is awful

People screaming in demonic tones... Hard Headbanging screamo music. Its nice to hear songs without a singer once in a while like Jesica or idk That theme song from the good the bad and the ugly. But when you cant understand anything the singer is singing whats the point of singing? Do they all have tourettes disease?

To further my point, here are two stereotypes of Death Metal and Screamo.

The first image is the singer of Deicide, who hates Christianity so much that he burned a god damned upside down cross into his forehead. His music is heavy, this guy will kill you.

The second image is your typical screamo character. His music is more of a garage band punk, utilizing not growls but higher pitched screams about how he hates his girlfriend for dumping him. His music isn't heavy, this guy will probably kill himself.

Now enlighten me, how the HELL are these genres the same

I love it because most people hate it.

It weeds out a large majority of people and puts you in a social group with a select few who truly understand what's going on. We're having fun and seeing just how far we can push our musical limits while the rest of society whines like babies and mass-produces the same pointless, marketing-based bullshit year after year...

Besides, metal is always way ahead of it's time. 20 years ago Twisted Sister was 'the devils music'. Now days, it's played on Top 40 stations and politicians use it for their campaign trail. In 20 years, you'll finally understand how good death metal is... but metal heads will have already moved on to something more advanced, something the mass-populace still doesn't understand.

In short: Metal is all about having fun. Fuck what everybody thinks... if it puts a smile on your face, fucking do it. if that means playing super-humanly fast and growling like a dying pig about face rape, then so be it.

I understand fully how angry music in general can be grouped up into one genre, but that's like walking into a sci-fi section of Barnes and Noble book store and saying "EVERY MOTHERFUCKIN BOOK IS STAR WARS SHIT." Yea, a lot of the books are about spaceb, but when you get into sub-genres, they're quite different from each other.

OP, just to validate your opinion; name 3 Death Metal bands (Dethklok, while probably the best of the bunch IMO, do not count and neither does anything from Wikipedia or the first 10 pages of Google).

I like death metal as a concept but I very rarely hear it done well. Malevolent Creation's 3rd album and anything by Garrotted; that's about it for me. The scene is flooded with really shitty musicians and awesome drummers who should find a good band to be a part of that challenges them more than a 40 minute set of blast-beats.

It's just a general statement... I would think a big part of the inital turn on to metal music stems from the fact that the mass populace just simply doesn't get it. That's why metal bands constantly strive to stay ahead of the musical pack... we don't want to be 'your mothers music'.... the more your mom hates it, the better job where doing.

Anybody who gets that, enjoys metal. All I'm really trying to say is that the OP isn't telling us anything new... in fact, it's reactions like this that drive the metal genra to be as shocking as it can possible be. There's a large group of us, that get a kick out of this type of thing.
