I am considering engaging my mind into this century old practice. I was wondering if there are any Buddhists on these boards?

If you can attend guided meditations with other Buddhists, I highly suggest doing it. You feel so amazing afterwards!!!

I'm very much into the philosophical/agnostic teachings of Buddhism. I meditate and try to follow the middle path, and try to remember Tathata when things get tough. I suggest you read some Osho.

The strange thing about Buddhism is that it's not so much a way of life, as it is a way of changing your perception of the things around you. You mannerisms in life will change as an effect to your new understanding of the world.
In simplist form, you just have to come to the realization that the idea of 'self' is a lie, everything is only temporary, and the source of all your suffering in life comes from the needless desires and attachments you've formed to material things that won't last forever.... this includes your own body.

Pointless post, really, but Buddhism is a very respectable religion, in that it's not much of one.
