It's unfair. I had many similair experiences at school. One of the ones I remember was that we were in Science doing some work, and a couple of girls at a table near us started throwing stuff at me and my friends, and generally getting on our nerves. When it gets to the point they're physically irritating you in a violent manner, wouldn't you do the same thing but less... violent? The OP did take it a little far with two hits (really, a good, hard punch in the gut would shut anyone up and isn't half as bad as going for the face) though.

I will say that it's good to just not hit anyone though and be resistant of it, but people have limits. It's obvious when people are meeting these limits, because they get stressed easier and take offense to a lot more things. In the end, it doesn't matter, except for the person who thinks they're smart and taking the piss - if they don't want to get hit or screamed at, then they should fuck off and leave this person be, not worsen the situation.

Besides, would it make a difference if it was a weak male student being a twat to try and get "popular"? Should you not try to show them that they're irritating you because he's seemingly weaker, or because he's male it doesn't matter?

Seriously, one of the things that piss me off is that for some reason girls have the privelige to go to huge lengths to piss someone off, but they get fuck all, and if they do, the person doing it gets ranted on, but if it was male nobody'd give a shit. And even if it was the opposite, I would feel the same way. It's just got stupid written on it all over for me, so, if there really is a reason you "shouldn't hit girls" no matter what, give it to me.

Are you sure "bothered" is the right word? I mean, it sounds like "pissed off", or "really angry" might be more appropriate. And it sounded like she deserved it anyway. Well, atleast people aren't gonna laugh at you so much for a while.
I say, if you're gonna lash out, it's probably better if it's not a girl, simply because it's seriously looked down on, and you probably now have a reputation as a woman beater, or something like that. I should know. I drew a couple of comics about vampires, and now there's a group of girls who are probably somewhat similar to the girl you hit, who think that I drink blood. So yeh, at school, people will take what you say or do, and add or take away details to create whatever meaning they want.

And second of all, I guess we've all been ridiculed in one point of our lives. Just make friends. When I was growing up I saw a lot of kids being messed around with, but for some reason I never got bullied. I did notice that the ones who are ridiculed the most are the ones that do nothing.

As awesome as hitting a girl might have been, that was definitely a mistake. You should have beaten up a guy your size that you felt you could take on, since must bullies actually want to tease all day but are afraid of actual fighting...

That's the way I have succeed in life:
When somebody bothers you, just laugh and look happy, even if someone hits you, hit them back with a smile in your face, like if you are doing it for fun...
After this, you will gain a good reputation and some people will just stop bothering you, because they will see that you are not being annoyed and some other will still bother you... BUT people like being friends with people that smile often, so you will gain more friends.
After doing that, if somebody still bothers you beat the fucking shit out of them, you will have some friends to protect you and you will start getting respect.
