3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI work at a second-hand store full of used things like old toys, old clothes, vinyl records and the occasional record player, cassettes, outdated books, dishes, VHS movies, everything that is donated to my work place in order to sell for cheap. It's like going into a convenience store from the 80's and 90's. A sum of the money goes towards women's shelters and I'm a proud worker there.
From time to time I find a gem in these piles of "junk". Usually they sell for cheap or they throw it out without knowing the true value of their items. I tell you, the most expensive item I've seen there was a rug set for $60.00. I found a medium sized television set with a built-in DVD player and the remote for $10.00. If there was an eBay account for this store they would make big bucks.
Now enough of the chit-chat and straight to the point. This topic will be updated each time I find an item that I find is worth of value. One man's junk is another man's treasure and my workplace is full of junk for a pack rat treasure hunter like me.

Today I was taking out the trash from things that can't sell, mostly clothing until I noticed a Soviet hat pin on the table. I showed it to my boss and she told me a fur hat was with it. I asked where the hat was and I found a dark Soviet fur hat. Apparently she was going to throw out the pin and sell the hat itself.
I stuck the pin back into its rightful place and purchased it for $0.50. Fifty friggin' cents for a Soviet fur hat that is usually sell for at least $30.00 on eBay. I showed my mother my fur and she suggested I show it to a girl in my class who speaks with a fake Russian accent and act like a Soviet myself.
Here's the picture.
Here's another picture from the Motherland, Comrades!
Oh that's just precious. Why do they sell them so cheap? They could get much more money out of this by rising the price, and it would still be cheap.
The pin looks photoshopped for some reason...
An illusion perhaps?
Anyhow, congrats. I expect more whacky things on this thread later to come.
So you work at Goodwill? I go there alot and find some pretty cool stuff. Once I found an old school camcorder that you put over your shoulder. I bought it for 3 bucks and took it apart. I love goodwill
Fool me once...shame on you. Fool me twice...no one will ever find your body.
I kill threads.

They sell it to people who can't afford to buy full priced clothing, it's like the Salvation Army if you've ever heard of them.
Also, rockin hat. You need to get a bottle of Smirnoff and take some photos.

Most likely do to the fact that they are already used and had been donated so it was free stock and the fact that we sell them cheap so low income families can buy them as part of our work for charity and the reuse of still good quality items that can be just as good as new products.

Haha, I may be a photoshopper but I assure you that it's a real photo of the hat. It just looks like the flash reflected off the pin.

How much do you want for it?
I'm keeping this hat for historical reasons. I love collecting pieces of history.

I'm working at a store called, "Orbiting Trends" it's an independent business that started in a church basement but grew to be a store.
needs moar hell march :3
red alert ftw
Also Today I was putting away some magazines, mostly Reader's Digest until I noticed three original Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine that range from 1987-1990. I checked on eBay and they sell for at least $10.00 including shipping each. Next time I go back to work I'm going to try to find more of these and start a collection.
One of them is a very famous story by Alfred Hitchcock as seen on this 1990 edition of the magazine. It's the story when a man is under house arrest and so to pass off the time he uses his binoculars to see what goes on in the neighbourhood and then witnesses a crime.
i have always deemed places like that to smelly for me, but if i can find stuff like that well i just may give good will a visit :D
bit it dose smell like hobo in there...
I want, because that hat is awesome. I would go to a Veterens Home wearing that, for the lulz.

Oh yeah, that would piss off a lot of veterans who participated in the Korean war, Vietnam war, Afghan war and the Yugoslavian war. Not to mention those people who lived through the 50's and 60's with bomb shelter drills every few weeks at school would not be impressed

A while ago I was filling the book shelves with books that had been donated. I emptied out the box full of books until I found this picture. My boss said she would throw it out but I brought it back home.
From studying it, it's an autographed Star Trek picture of android Lieutenant Commander Data signed by Brent Spiner himself. It's in good condition but not really perfect. I'm thinking of selling it on eBay one day but my mother wants me to give it to one of my Aunts who was a Star Trek fan.
If there are any Star trek fans here, how much do you think this will go for?
Sell all this shit and get a razor. Seriously. You've got a pseudo-Hitler stash going on and some chin fuzz in dire need of shaving.
I have one of those hats, (it doesn't have the Soviet pin though D:)
see profile.

You can safely sell it for $100, but there are Trekkies who'll buy it for $10000 or over. I'd put it at $100 and make it bid only, if they buy it out cheap when you could have gotten more you may be sorry.

The Heavens open up and God says, "Today is your lucky day!"
I have found a very shiny gem of a find at my workplace and I could not believe my eyes when I first laid them upon this beautiful mechanism. I felt like I was back in the late 90's playing with my friend on this contraption. I rushed to grab some money from the bank and ran all the way back to purchase it.
A Super Nintendo Entertainment System!
I haven't tested it to see if it works yet because my basement is being repaired due to a flood some time ago. Once the basement is ready to go, I'll test to see if it works well enough to play.
I got the whole system with the wires and controllers plus dozens of games along with an older version of PlayStation 2 all for $15.00. I gave the PS2 to a friend of mine and kept the SNES.
Here are my top three games:

I miss my old super. Those were some good times.
That is a cool hat, I would buy one of those.
In fact one day I saw in a shop a big soviet-style hat with the hammer and sickle on the front but it was too pricey.
I'll buy that hat for $10.00 American money.
fuck you highest bidder.
A spear in your chest and a fire in your ass. I only play as Scorpion in MK games, because I'm that much of a fanboy.

Are you sure of that? Maybe my safest bet would ask this on a Star Trek fan forum. Who knows, I may even get an offer.

Thanks. I could never get past that cave that leads to the next world. The only Genesis/SNES game I could beat full was Sonic 2 on PlayStation 2 where I had a svae feature.
Fuck you and your fucking awesome job!

What I have found some time ago that I rediscovered in my room today is a glass rifle-shaped liquor bottle. I found this in the trash at my workplace because my work has a policy of throwing out anything that is not G-rated. Rifle and liquor equals total throw out.
However I managed to save it and brought it home. After doing to research this glass rifle bottle costs a range of $15.00 to $140.00. It cost more with the liquor and the sticker on the bottle but this one was stripped of its sticker and drained of its alcohol.
One day I'm going to fill this baby with Coca-Cola and drink Kurt Cobain style!
