Not as stupid as you think. She shook her shoe off at him, and that can be counted as attempted assault. This means that she attacked him first, and therefore he had to refrain her before she could cause some serious damage. It's a play of words, not stupidity.

But she could have used psychological and verbal violence. So throwing her to the ground was really the best thing to do. Also she used weapons while the poor cop only defended himself with his bare hands.

Watch closely, she kicks her shoe out of the door, then he suddenly dives at her, she doesn't appear to resist at all after he grabs her, yet he visibly punches her repeatedly and the second officer removes her other shoe and throws it out of the cell.

I cannot imagine what possible reason he had for that, nothing visible in that video excuses his behaviour there.

I saw exactly what happened, she did nothing and got the shit kicked out of her.

But if I were in his position, maybe she had one of those hair needles in her hair and had it in her right hand, where the camera couldn't see it. How could the judge know? It's out of sight and they could bring in anything they want and say it was in her hand.

That wouldn't hold up for two reasons:

#1: Unnecessary use of force. Even if the jury is stupid enough to count that as assault on her part, even they would have to acknowledge that slamming the girl against the wall and punching her is over the top
#2: The shoe was clearly not meant to be anything but to show disrespect. Punching people for not liking you isn't an excuse.

In no way did she deserve that, she kicked her shoes instead of taking them off nicely (usual suicide safeties) in her way winning a small battle (teens pick silly little fights as we all know).

There was no hint of her attempting to endanger the police officer in any way, thus no force was required, especially at that level.

I think it's going to be hard to successfully win a "not guilty" plea with this one.

All we have is the video. We don't know the context. Making any sort of judgment based on that alone is foolish.
