I clicked a link on a website to help download a certain something (technically public domain)
but the website said it was shut down for its content, my IP was recorded, and that It has been logged

what the fuck does this mean
and what do I do now

You probably shouldn't do anything. If the cops come, explain, and hand over the comp. You didn't know the site had illegal content, and really, it should be sorted quickly. Just explain to them exactly what happened, don't freak, and don't do anything more that could be suspicious because it may actually work against you. You'll be fine.
