S'up?

Heeey, guys. Who wants to make a game with me?

Before I start this - I would like to make a point that I have never made a game before. Nor really collaborated with anyone. So I guess only apply if you've got the patience to be working with some one totally clueless. :)

But I do know my way around flash. I've been using it for a while now. I'd like to think I can draw pretty good, too.

I'm using Flash CS3. I don't know if that will cause any compatibility issues for different version. But not much I can do about that. ;)

Project
So the game. It's a pretty basic game as far as the concept goes. It's essentially a verticle platformer, where the player avoids the boundaries of the screen.

I had a quick look around the portal for similar games - this one is pretty similar:

However the version we're planning to make is different as it has varying platforms that have affect on the players movement. As well as focusing on local multiplayer.
I've faked a screenshot of the game, to give an example of what it will look like - I'll upload it with the post. Check below.

The art and concept is simple. But having no knowledge of action script I wouldn't really know much about that. I know it'll involve player movement with gravity and what not. Randomly generating objects, selectable characters, multiple players, etc, etc.

People and Pay
It's a small game so there's only me and an audio guy working on it so far. That means the ad revenue can be split 34:33:33. I'll let you have that extra 1% ;)

Of course - if it proves to be alot of work coding wise - I can whack up your portion accordingly.

Of course - I have no idea how successful this game will be. so I can't even give a ball park figure of the expected revenue.

Wow - I'm doing a good job of selling this. :\

Examples of my work
I've been using flash for ages. But haven't really got many finished projects to show off. Here's the two I have submitted under this account. And my most recent flash submissions to newgrounds:

Here are a couple of other things. The first isn't flash and the other is only an intro. But good examples none the less.

Digital Painting - NSFW

Animated intro for another project with my buddy

Interested?
Drop me a PM or post here.
Please include examples of your work. :)

CHARS GUIZ!

I'm quite busy. But if no one else offers, I'm here as a backup. The engine is quite simple to make.

If you need examples of actionscripting, check my user page for an engine.

Anyone else interested?

You've got 5ish hours until I'm back from working. :)

That's kind of the point.

Did you never play one of those 4 player games on the playstation, where each player only had half a controller?

It became a game in itself wrestling for it - and pulling it away from the other guy if he was beating you.

It's crowded - but still possible. :)

Okay - looking at you guy's stuff, now.

Local multiplayer = fail. You think people who play flash games have friends? Okay well they do, but do you think they get on the same computer to play them? No they don't.

Also 34% out of 0$ is still 0$. That kind of a game isn't going to get sponsored, and you won't get any ad money either since they have a limit that you need to raise before getting the money (e.g. 100$). Considering that the average game that goes through the NG system (that doesn't get front paged) makes like 2-10$, you are looking at a 0$ income.

Haha well now that I've shattered all your dreams (I'm sorry btw :P), I would advice that you learn coding yourself. The game you want to make is pretty simple to code and you will be happy that you know at least some coding after you are done. Even if you don't plan on being a coder in your other projects, it's always good to know at least a little how the coding works. That way you can more quickly assay what is feasible to do and how much work it will require.

While I agree that local multiplayer is basically worthless (at least in my experience), I still think that this is a simple, but still pretty interesting idea. As long as the graphics are polished and the engine works well, the game should do well, and if you can get it to be online multiplayer, you should be able to get a sponsor pretty easily. However, programming that would be a lot more work.

Good luck.

Local multiplayer is NOT worthless

I see people doing it all the time in college. They will play the worst games EVER just cos they have local multiplayer

Ah, good point!
But some colleges have some crappy computers, so efficient programming (and keeping in the quality option!) would be a major advantage.

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders.

By the way, I made the 'Create an Animated Sprite' preloader for Sprite TV 3!

local multiplayer is a great idea but in my experience its only likely 2 people are gonna ply together
make a campaign for people who have no freinds or brothers and sisters in the house
make a party 4 player mode where players have to press something to join the game
that wud be good
