The first one looks like the light at the end of the tunnel, the second one is closer, but the galaxy is still too circular. Should be more elliptical. The texture on the outside looks a bit like a vinyl, but you said not final colors.. make it a lot brighter, and with more variety in it as well.

The 2nd one is better, not that "tube" feeling this time... However, in space, the shape "round" is not the ultimate shape that was so long proposed for it, so go ahead and use more oval styled shape for the galaxy. And I have to agree with BlueHippo there, the coloring as a tad too dark & dull at the moment, add variety :P

But even still, its a good piece.

Sure, we all share one thing. We will all die sooner or later. Thank god.

Work on making it fade out more as well. Right now it looks too cut-out.

The center is too large for the basic galaxy you see everywhere on tv and other stuff. Also, try making it seem as though you can see the individual stars. Not all of course, but some. The second one is better. Good luck!

No for both of them it doesn't look like a cluster of starts it looks like a bunch of blotches when it should be little dots everywhere and some aura around it from the light

Even dogs...

The outsideof the swirl looks too cut up and detatched. Make they connected more, maybe a bit of debris flying off, but not glitchy like that.

it looks nice, only thing i can say is make more inconsistencies. if no two snow flakes are the same then nature DEFIANTLY cant make galaxies near symmetrical. moar nebula and clouds within the spirals. thats like a tiny little suggestion.
because it dose look pretty,

i wanna touch it!

The very first drawing looks like a light comming out of the end of a sewer pipe. The others look kinda good.

Planets look amazing, and so does the galaxy, though it seems to me the surrounding darkness is just a bit too blank, likewise for the fiercly shining center.

I agree with the person that said it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel. I think the second one is better because it looks more like what you are trying to show. Eh I think I said that wrong...

Anyway both are good

hey man thanks a million for that link i have been looking for a good photo of the galaxy. Of course i didn't even think of nasa go figure....

thanks to all the other people that have commented i think i'm going to re-draw the galaxy from scratch (oh boy), ill make it a little less heavily swirled, better colors and more variance in the formations. Then ill re-do earth, hopefully it will look a little bit better the second time through, cant remember who said it but you right the earth had to much bright colors in it, ill tone it down a little. Then those are like the three hardest planets ill just vary size and color of mars to make the others and add some opacity and craters then it should work out thanks a million ill post a link to the finished swf. which of course will be very cheesy, its for 8th grade un-honors science so i have to make it look pretty and interesting, not as factual, but next year ill be in all AP :P woo-ho so ill be with students who actually care about at least going to 4 year collage....

again thanks,

-Sanford

hey dude again this link has helped me even further it gives an approximation of where we are within the galaxy !!!! i would have spent hours most likely having to use a formula to figure out our exact position within the galaxy but now i can just look here thanks a ton again
