Is this heading in the right direction? let me know so I can get back on it asap. I haven't really done that much. Read the descritption of the song.

Wait... that's supposed to be the Imperial March?

Sorry, but did you actually READ the topic? We are looking from high quality remakes of the songs that capture the original feel. Don't make the Imperial March all light and Mario style. Don't try and make it Nintendo-like. Make it feel dark and powerful. Seriously, you are NOT heading in the right direction.

But that;s not really what they want. I like the idea of people (more or less) covering a existing game song. But i prefer remixing it properly. Now i do understand you dont want another mario dance remix but some extra room is nice. It going to be a VG fighting game, and what other music is most fitting then abloodpumping VG remix?

Luckily, i still have to begin :p. But for the worst reason, i don't know which i should choose.

Very exited in hearing more stuff. Please just note this is not a Dance, Dance Revolution game, haha. We don't need Trance, Dance or Techno. It's in NONE of the games represented as a style.

Yes. I'd suggest ANYONE to just check the Smash Bros. Brawl OST on YouTube, we're aiming for that sort of stuff.

Sorry for not posting earlier but I needed time to decide whether I should join in or not,but I made my decision and I think I will take part in it. I made two remixes these days and I uploaded them today, but I will have to wait a bit until a mod unlocked me as an audio artist...
I will post again, when these two remixes are online!^^

Btw. there is first the Masked DeDeDe Remix (Kirby) and second the Giygas battletheme (Earthbound) made by me.

That really doesn't help much, other than the fact that it should sound professional. The OST covers pretty much every genre, even metal and "techno".

Aside from that, I'd have to say that nintendo has never let genre effect the evolution of the smash brothers sound track. If they were worried about that, then the metroid battle stage featuring kraid on melee would not have been a semi metal redux of the original chip tune. Interestingly, most of what you'll hear out of metroid now a days is highly organic electronica. What nintendo has done right with their music is that they have never got too bogged down over a genre of music. I think what nintendo has done right is that they have acknowledged the fact that good music is good music, regardless of whether or not it sounds remotely like the original chip tunes. They even acknowledge experimentation with their sound tracks. I remember hearing some light DNB in wii mario cart during the online plays menu screen.

If you guys really want to create a unique gaming experience, try to acquire a unique sound track, and not just one that is too grossly similar to the original copyrighted nintendo scores. Also, if this game ends up being as good/ as popular as I think it will be, you should really be concerned about breaking copy rights...

and no, this isn't an attempt to defend my track. I honestly didn't really like my remix that much. I'm thinking of backing down from this project :/

We don't have a problem with people trying out new genres. What we have a problem with is losing the original spirit of the track. Remixing the Mario theme in heavy metal for example, doesn't really catch the theme of a chubby little plumber high on shrooms. Any genre is fine, as long as it catchs the original spirit of the game. We made the Mario must be Orchestrated rule, because a lot of people were making techno remixes that lost the nostalgia behind the track. Any style is perfect, but just keep the original feel of the track. I mean, you can't force a track to be something it's not. For example, try taking a sad tune, an emotionally depressing song.... and make it hard rock.

It just doesn't work like that.

Still, we are looking for tracks that capture the original spirit of the song. This does not necessarily mean the same genre, but as long as it remains recognisable and doesn't try to be something it isn't (e.g. Taking a slow piano piece and making it upbeat techno, or taking a dark, sinister piece and making it light and happy) then the track will be eligible for the OST.

Hey thanks man!

The ff7 theme is awesome, i had to do it lol, i just dont want to under-do it, because if that happens, i might as well delete the source file and remove any trace of it from my memory lol

I like it, but I don't know Final Fantasy very well, I'll let 2nd say.

Also, I liked Quarl's one too, but it just had a bit too much electric noise for the style of the track.

Thanks but its pretty much the same thing lol, almost like a "cover" sorta, just with faster more 'alive' drums and a bassline that suits the drums more, but still has all the same notes as the original.

Would make good fight music, use it.

Also I have a complaint about the graphics.

I'm not much of a programmer or artist myself, but SERIOUSLY GUYS? Those tweens in that Link video looked NOT GOOD.

I'd expect a game with 'oh so much hype' to look better, I mean here you are DEMANDING AMAZING music when the games graphics aren't even up to par!

The animation is awkward and reminds me of Salad Fingers, as does the level design :(

My thoughts, don't take them too harshly, but SRSLY?? more fluid animation PLEASE! :(

Don't make this game look noob.

and don't get pissy at my post, I'm saying what i think is all. And its more of a ..recommendation than an angry comment.

.Adding onto what i said before

get someone like Dan Paladin to do the graphics for this, and stop trying to COPY THE REAL SMASH BROS EX ACTLY!

seriously i can tell that you're even trying to make the GRAPHICS look the same ><

give it a more cartoony-yet-smooth look. ;)

lol i just saw the level pictures and everything else looks fine LOL, my bad for getting so angry.

but we all need a good idea of the game, just release a friggin field test version or something with one level and one character so we can know what to look forawrd to, and to create more hype.

The other concern I have knowing for sure whether the game will actually be completed. Yes it sounds like you put alot of work into it so far, however there hasn't been any updates on the site in 2 months, and it gives me a feeling of being left in the dark.

Honestly, I would leave for now and finish the major core of the game, and when you're working on finishing touches, come back and ask for music. We don't mind helping out, but we want to make sure this is for a plausible cause that will see the light of day. Most music today is done post production.

The core game mechanics are done. We haven't updated because on other sites we have promised a demo release, and we are concentrating on getting all the stuff in the demo instead of updating the site. The game will be finished, there's no doubt about that (and Link's animations only didn't look smooth because of youtube's compression). The site will be updated more often once the demo is released.
