because to some people music is genuinely important.
if I had the dillemna of losing my eyes or ears, I'd lose my eyes, because my hearing is too precious. music is amazing.

Music is an awesome form of expression, and can be very entertaining. I personally love to listen to music while at school.

It does bother me that some people bitch about getting it taken away though. I mean, can't they just listen to it in classes where you can actually listen to it without the worries of getting it taken away?

If people can't listen to music at school, they minus well not carry their iPods around unless they're gonna have a long night out of the house....

Music helps people relax and find their inner peace of mind. I listen to my music because it's fun to listen to so many types of genres. Music is life, that's my opinion so you don't have to cripple me.

Music may be totally awesome but you don't go to school to listen to music on your personal iPod during a class. I could never see the point because I have listened to music during class and I get very paranoid about getting into trouble.

It's a way to pass time, but I guess you could probably assume that kids want to look cool listening to music. I literally see them lay back, weird those funny glasses with lines on them, and listen to music on those really over-priced i-pods.

Out of context this would probably be one of the stupidest questions I've ever seen, but within the context of kids listening to MP3 players during class... no, there's nothing important about it at all, and they're probably just a bunch of inattentive douches that deserve to have their shit confiscated.

In library or study hall is a completely different case though. When I was in HS in told the dean to take a walk when he tried to confiscate my CD player while I was doing homework in the library. His office had recently been broken into and someone stole a bunch of previously-confiscated items so... he actually DID leave me alone and took that walk. LOL.

I wear a hood in class, and sometimes, when its an unimportant lesson, I listen to music on my i-pod with the sound very low so I can still pay attention.

I never see musically talented people listening to their ipods when it's uncalled for. Mostly it's just people listening to death metal or something like that.

Two weeks ago, I went to an all-state band convention. Everyone there is really good and they all love music, and they all managed to keep their ipods away during rehearsal.

Odds are, you can live without your precious ipod til the end of class.
