god damn, TurkeyOnAStick's piece is awesome. It will sure be number 1.
I'll wait for a None Isometric competition =]
Isometric is just too consuming..
Okay, I put in some shading around the TV, the Snes and the controller. I'm trying to figure out how to do some floor texturing now, any thoughts?
Also, any other comments about the rest of the piece?

Fix yer shading, lad. You shading and you shadows speak a different language. Here, I made a small 3D scene to demonstrate - You shadingsays that the light source is in the rear corner.
However, your shadows say that the light source is somewhere by the camera.
It's a pity Blender has no "isometric shading" option :P

Hmm, I dunno. The way I see it is that the light source is from a ceiling light from the camera's perspective. If the source is there, wouldn't it make sense?

critisism eh?
alright.
if you were any better, i'd break your legs!
with love of course
seriously, this picture is looking epic :P. don't stop there though, make it massive with loads of action and detail and no doubt you've already won.
Since we already see the world in three dimensions, I started wearing 3-D glasses around so that I could see things in 6-D... The sixth dimension is blurry and discolored.
I'm almost done with may be my only submission to the contest. I'm not sure. If I have time to start on another one, I will do so. I'm at a disadvantage here because I only have good ol' MS Paint. However, I'm hoping to god that I might at least get some consideration for the top five. B
Basically my submission will probably be like no one else's. It's not so much a setting moreso than it is a design, I guess is the best way to put it.
Hi guys, sorry for not presenting in the last few days, but my computer got screwed and long story short I had to reformat it and I lost everything I had, sooo I think I will start one all over again, one much better. I know I can still work over what i posted here, but still I can do better.

Looks unbelievable, although some parts do feel like they're verging about from isometric. The explosion looks great in my opinion, on of the coolest parts.
All of these are looking amazing. Good luck! May the best isometric pixel artist win!
MY E-PENIS IS BIGGER THAN YOURS

...and this is my fag...
Okay, I changed a few details to this picture. I also tested out the shading and shadows with actual objects and a lamp, and if the light source is from the camera's perspective and above, like ceiling or so, then the shadows would work. I'd envision the light as coming from a ceiling light in the middle of the room, which is why the tops of the objects are lighter than the sides. I don't really have any ideas about doing a floor texture, and I'm worried about messing it up, so I might just leave it the way it is. Any last thoughts?

Just want to practice a bit before i start on my picture...so i need to know if what i just made is actually isometric at all, thanks.
yup its isometric alright c: good job, id like to give you a few tips,
first of all don't be afraid to use more contrast on the colors,
secondly don't use black lines on pixel art,
i made you a little edit of your block, i also added some anti-alias in it, you would probably only notice if you zoom in, other than that keep up a good job with the pixelart mate
GOAT CHEESE? whats the deal with goat cheese?
I'm actually suprised that I haven't started a piece for this competition. I love pixel art.

Isometric tetris?
Oh wow, shunshuu's piece is fucking awesome (the NG office one).
Techno, this is looking good. Can't wait to see the result! :)
Well this contest sure bombed hard.

I second that.
...anyway, a WIP on my side. I realize I went a wee bit overboard with the dimensions, guess I'll have to figure out a way to squeeze them in the limits.
I'm mostly looking for ideas on how to make it feel...massive. Colossal. See the road in the lower right corner? That's supposed to be 4-lane, just to give you a picture of its size.

Looks like that would come out great.

I think you'll need an alternative way to demonstrate its size, since I would guess any car coming out of that would look like 10 pixel blobs.
... but to be fair the best assets you've got are the collection of shapes going on. Flaunt them.

Dammit poxpower don't you realize sometimes words hurt more than a tightly balled fist.

I was expecting a lot more entries. As you said in the contest thread, it was a very easy task. I mean, I don't consider myself as an artist (not when compared to many people on Newgrounds) and I was able to come up with this within a few hours. Even so, there's still a couple of days left, maybe there'll be a huge rush of entries towards the end.
Other reason I wanted to bump this thread is to see if anyone had some thoughts to offer on my entry? It's my first entry to an NG art contest (maybe even the Art Forum), probably for a good reason. :P
I'd like to hear what some of you make of it, and constructive criticism would be appreciated, thanks.

Goddamnit, I screwed up the link on my entry. The bigger version is supposed to be here.
And I don't want to start bugging any mods to delete my previous post, esspecially since the new one would be two hours "late".
What's the deal with all these posts by people who are either completely new users, or don't have that many posts before them?
God dammit TurkeyOnAStick, yours is fucking fantastic.

Not one isometric copterphant in the bunch.
Also, I think a lot of it has to do with that other contest goin' on right now.

Sweet, time to squander it on shirts and dolls!
I've always wanted to do something on the scale of eboy, and I guess that's why people were put off. But I preferred the clever small pics like shunshuu's and raz's which do the job a lot better cos they're much quicker to understand.
Zi-double's pics are like battleships sailing into a yachting lake. Good God.
thanks turkey and congrats
this was my first try at pixel art but I really like it, gonna make at least 3 or 4 more
