i would absolutely love critique, as long as it's constructive. and everything i do, including shading, or anything is all done up in flash.
im not sure if this is the correct procedure, but i started with drawing an outline for the head, and adding the beard all in light Grey, then drew the head. after that i added a new layer, redrew everything in black, and made the beard connect to the hair along with a thinner outline. then i added two new layers, one for the outline of the hat, and the other for the hat itself. after that, i moved onto the body, and i basically wanted him to look as if hes a hobo whos on the ground, leaning against something. i drew stick figures, then drew body parts, then drew the clothing around it.
i know this isnt that good, but i worked pretty hard on this. i just got a wacom tablet about four days ago and this is my most detailed drawing with it so far. in fact, i haven't really been doing any actual drawings with my tablet yet since i got it in the middle of making a flash so all ive been doing is making mouths and adding small little adjustments to everything. this is the first time i actually sat down and got to know my tablet.
once again, please critique. it would be quite helpful.

here's a pair of legs i drew a little while back with my mouse. some people might've seen it before, and that was because i posted a crappier version of it and asked for critique. thanks to everyone's help, i was able to balance out a lot of the body sizes, though i still don't like how they look like form-fitting jeans. i wanted them to look like slightly baggy jeans. i might edit them later, but its a little doubtful. at least i got the body parts right!

so i decided to loosen up my hand a bit, and made a little more of a sketchy piece.
started off with me drawing the mouth, then i decided to do egoraptor's trademark eyes, then the hair, and it all sorta went from there.
what really pisses me off is how big the damn thing is. its so big that not even a giganto monitor could see the whole thing in one shot.
so here' the link to the bigger, higher quality version
also, i decided to ignore the small imperfections, such as an accidental small inkblot, and only focused on the bigger mistakes.
did this in about 5 min.

how bout this: spend more than four hours on your next one.
that's a bare minimum.

TOO LATE!
anyways i liked the style of the last guy, so i did another quick sketch. i thought the position he was in looked good in theory, but after executing it i realized that i really wanted to draw the hands again (ew hand fetish).
anyways, reducing it to such a small size and submitting here utterly rapes the quality, but im still gonna do it. if you wanna see the guy in his full glory, look here
i would spend more time on these, but im just practicing and loosening up my hands for now. eventually ill spend a lot of time on one.

i also did this one for a flash animation a little while back.
the animation im talking about will be in the lazer collab.
also, this is back when i sued a mouse, and what i did, was take another picture off the net (no trace), and used a grid to copy, but not trace the picture.

and just to show you how i usually draw for my animations, here's a picture of the group of people i use in my animations.
to be honest, before flash came along and i drew on paper, i would never do a complete circle eye. i would always make a three quarters moon type eye with the bottom half of the eye closest to you taken out, but i discovered quickly in flash that it was not only a little harder to color, but also didnt look as good with color.

and here's what i hope will be the last of the quick sketches.
is it wrong to like drawing hands over everything else?

here's the hi-res
...For one, I'm going to say - Why do we need a high res of something that lacks much detail.
I'm just going to repeat what the last two people have said, and say spend more time on your work. Consider how much better they could be, rather than drawing something just for the sake of finishing it.
But hey, keep drawing. You'll get better with time and practice.
At 2/23/09 02:31 AM, Kuoke wrote: Why do we need a high res of something that lacks much detail.
well basically because the re-sizing of newgrounds rapes the detail a little bit, and i want people to see it at the exact size i drew it at. which is about your monitor time two or so.

here's something i'm doing for a japanese art project.
the project was to make a monster, then label the different body parts in japanese.
and so, i present to you: half cyborg, half human, half werewolf, ALL AWESOME!
but i can do better....

Im Not a jerk, I'm just right.
oi so i took all of your guys' advice to spend more then five minutes on something. i decided to take a mirror and draw myself. here's the time:
finding the mirror: 7 min
drawing rough sketch: 5-7 min
cleaning it up: 4-6 min
coloring and shading: 3 min
total: 19-23 min
i decided to use the selection tool to cure all of the bumps and curves instead of drawing over it cuz i liked the way the rough sketch looked and didn't want to ruin that. i tried to use the eraser tool as little as i could because generally for me using the eraser tool fucks it up a bit.
critique away.
also hi res

okay, i decided to go for a new style in my drawing, and made another, better self-portrait. done with a tablet, flash, and a mirror.
i might start using gimp soon, provided i can figure out how it makes drawings better. i personally think that flash makes better drawings, but can anyone at all explain why gimp (aka photoshop lite) is probly better to do backgrounds in?
also hi-res
i tried to make it as accurate as possible, but my face still looks too big. ah well.

When I draw something for newgrounds (unless it's a quick scetch), I usually draw it at 2x the allowed size (1200*1400 pixels). This way I can put in those details that people will see at 50%. Making it way easier for me to make them look good.

i'm actually just used to drawing like that. no matter what i do, even with the pencil tool i can't draw something all in one place i have to draw one part of it, then scroll and draw another part.
generally how i do my animations is i zoom in to about 600% and start drawing, but with my pics since it doesn't have to fit in the frame i generally just draw a larger version right off the bat.
gets kinda annoying when i hit the stage restrictions and have to move them tho
