Hey, I can dream, can't I?
And science isn't a religion, science doesn't have rituals or a set hierarchy, which are the requirements of a religion. Also, while one could say the laws of physics are the dogma of a science religion, they're in the end, all subject to debate.
For most practical purposes, it can be practised and followed in similar ways.
True, it desn't have all-encompassing versions of either, but the same could be said for some recognised religions (Islam, for instance, has little real hierarchy). And there are paralogues between the structure of a stereotypical religious institution and, say, a research institution in terms of 'rituals' (~the scientific method) and 'hierarchy' (~peer review groups etc.).
The main difference - the fact that exactly what it teaches you is always changing - just makes for a nice bonus too (so it never gets boring).
