My friend brought up an interesting topic the other day.
He was banned from a forum (as he always is) so of course he went back on with some IP changer gadget. He kept insulting people for the lols and all and then someone messaged him that they will call the cops on his original IP address and have him arrested.
He backed up and stopped using it.
Now he asks me, could that really happen?
Personally, I don't think the cops would be bothered with such trivial matters, and besides I think it's legal, what with all the Dynamic IP's and all, that some internet providers have.
But then again, it can easily be turned into something ugly if you get a lawyer for it...
Anyway, what do you, fine upstanding citizens of Newgrounds think?

Hahaha. Why would the cops care if someone was avoiding a ban.... on an internet forum.

If matters were serious enough (Like if your friend was stupid enough to make threats), then they could go through the police. Eventually a subpoena could be issued to the ISP to hand over records of who the IP address belongs to.
ISPs deal with this on a regular basis.

Nah I don't think he made any threats, he just gets mad usually and pretty much spams the whole place up for around 1 or 2 hours.
I'll make sure not to tell him these though, I don't exactly support what he is doing.

The website will probably ask for you friend's internet to be shut down by whatever ISP he has.

If he posts anything explicit(i. e. illegal text, threats, sexual, ect.) and they were able to track him down without any problem, then, yeah, he would get arrested. But if the police would have to spend time and money to track him down, then no.
