15 year old dead.

15 year old Dandre Alexander, of La Marque, TX, died Saturday, of possible meningitis. He was a friend to me, my sister, and an overall good kid in the community. Galveston County is issuing an alert for strongly recommended meningitis vaccines.

I just really can't believe that someone I spoke to last week, is now dead. It's so unreal.

He was my friend in 7th grade and 8th grade, but got held back, and stayed in the 8th. I guess he and my sister became friends.

We were pretty close. We each had a group of friends the we affiliated ourselves with. But we would talk to each other just about every day in middle school. It was last week, that I talked to him in about a year, and the last.

Look on the bright side, at least he wasn't mauled by an animal, shot up on the sidewalk, beaten to death with blunt objects,kidnapped,raped, then had his body cut up into tiny pieces and thrown into a river.

Wishing that the person was still alive won't make things better, besides he's in a better place now.You just have to hang on and keep on going.

Yeah, you're right. I will get over it, but the fact that he died, just a week after I spoke to him, is eerie.

But he died during a seizure, caused by a brain herniation, or some along those lines. Either way, he didn't die in peace.

But, I'm not wishing he was still alive, just still in mourning. I'm sure I will get over it, but I'm trying to cope with it.

Life is hard, but stopping to take a break after too much of it, isn't a sign of weakness. Just a sign of being human.

I guess you're right. But at least I'm not wallowing in my own pitifulness, wishing he was still alive. I also think of the others in my community, who are also sadden by his death.
