I am a really out going person, I never really have problems in groups. Whenever I am around hot girls I get little butterflies in my tummy... but thats about it.

I'm like that too, except for me, it's much worse. I have social anxiety, so I have tendency to actually stray away from social situations, because when I fuck something up, I get really jittery and I look even more like a dumbass.

I actually think a majority of people who visit forums are like what you just described. They usually feel a bit more confined in real life, and so visiting forums is sort of "necessary" for them because of that lack of social contact.. You wouldn't really find most of the "outgoing" people on forums, since they already have real life for making social contact with others, so they wouldn't really have a reason to go on the forums.

Anyone who can type well enough to string a few sentences together is more comfortable on the web.
We have time to think about things, even I had to use the backspace a few times whilst typing this. In social situations, you can't go "I love yu *Backspace* You." (In fact, I will strongly recommend you do not use backspace in any sentence).

We're also most comfortable around strangers on the Internet as we accept that we will most likely not see them. The bonus of the Internet, is that you can select you friends. I have yet to have the conversation where someone has asked to be my friend (In real life [On a further note, why to people use the phrase 'Real life'. This is real life]) and I've had the ability to use the word "DENY!"

Don't feel like a nerd. Whether or not everyone here will admit to it, they all agree with you.

It's only natural to feel more comfortable doing something if it doesn't have to be done in person. It's much easier to write a note than it is to give a speech.

I think it's easier because I have got a bit longer to think of a witty response on the forum than IRL, as well as just being able to ignore the topic and not looking like a arse.

I used to be really insecure around people, but now It's much better; I feel like I can say pretty much whatever I want... Sometimes I still get insecurity fits whereby I just suddenly feel insecure for no reason while around people and it affects my behavior for a short moment.
