I'm still kind of in awe at the advertisement that I just saw. It was an ad for an adult dating site that used Obama as it's pitch man. I'm not going to post the screenshot I took of it because it would probably break NG's rules on pornograpy and advertisement, but if you ask really nicely I could send it to you. Here's the text of what the ad says, I can't even make this up:

When I'm flying around the world in Air Force
One, there's no time for mackin' at da club.
That's why I rely on (the site's name) to bang
chicks internationally, with no strings attached!
...What? Clinton did it? CLICK HERE to get your
piece of ass today!

Your Prez, aka -O Dogg-
-this message has not been approved by the first lady-

In the background of this text there is a picture of Obama with his arms folded and a picture of MIchelle faded out behind him with a stunned look on her face.

Now, aside from the obvious "wow, wtf!" factor that this ad has, I still can't help but feel there's something uniquely wrong about this. It's not just the fact that a presiden't ad is being used to sell something, it's the fact that they are presenting Obama (and Democrats in general, remember the Clinton comment) as promiscious womanizers. And the dialogue for Obama in particular sounds like a ghetto thug.

Now, maybe I'm overreacting, Bush did get lampooned a lot too, often compared to a chimp or a village idiot, but that was in response to Bush's frequent misuse of the english language. This ad seems to make fun of Obama simply because he's black.

I know there's a lot of reasons to make fun of our politicians, but I don't think race should really be one of them. If Obama isn't above the stereotypes about blacks, then I don't think anyone is...and that's a problem.

Personally, I find it hilarious when people assume anything that looks like it might be racial to be racist and bigoted. such as the picture below. People assume that Obama wrote the stimulus bill and therefore assume the artist must me a racist. However as CONGRESS, and not Obama wrote the bill, he's basically saying that congress is a bunch of retarded monkeys.

Actually, when you consider who people talk about when they think of the main proponent of the bill, this could definitely be misconstrued as racist.

In the light of all the shit that Bush got, this really isn't that bad.

At least they're not portraying him as a monkey-looking, coke-snorting, English-language killing, idiot southern bastard.

All in all, it's just a stupid ad. Nothing to get offended about.

As a black person, I think that some people have way too much sensitivity to racial issues and it kinda dulls the effect of real racial issues.

There are 20,000 meanings that this drawing could have.

-Congress is a bunch of monkeys
-Nancy Pelosi is as dumb as a monkey
-The stimulus bill looks as if it were written by a monkey (and Congress wrote it by the way, not Obama)

Considering that you'd have to ignore the fact that they specifically designated the monkey as the writer of the stimulus bill, you'd have to go pretty far to infer that it's an attack on Obama. Unless you also believe in that hidden racist republican language crap too.

Just a little, I mean it is basically a porn ad. You should expect this kind of stuff from adult advertisements.

I agree a bit. Well a 'smart' pop-idol chimpanzee was supposedly writing the bill. To me it's like saying how politics has become more a celeb freak show thing then serious business. (lol, monkey business)
This looks grim. Now everyone who criticises Obama will be a racist who tries to keep the black man down.

Check out the first responses to this guy's rant. Immediately someone calls him a racist.
