So you gonna glue or screw the components onto the frame?

Awesome idea. Although you should know that the plural of Lego is Lego and it pisses me off that so many Americans (just Americans :/) refer to it as "Legos".

No color does not piss me off, seeing as that is part of the American - English dialect. But "Lego" is a company name, from Denmark - thus the plural should be the same as how the Danish say it "Lego".

Danke.

upper threshold of normal pc operating temperature 60*C
lego melts at around 120*C

I hope your not planning on running Crysis on the highest settings available.

Or overclocking.

Otherwise I'd give that PC case 3 months. It's not like you'll come back to report to us that your PC has overheated and killed itself right?

I want to know how good the cooling will be. I can image just playing a game and then all of a sudden your computer overheats and your case melts, lol. A big pile of melted plastic.

But cool that you are actually making a lego case.

I find it quite annoying when you say "Pants" instead of "Trousers".

The motherboard and it's tray, and how I plan to mount it in the case.

Nice job, it's beginning to shape up!

Let this be a lesson to ye: I had a malfunction in the base, the source of the fracture being a megablock, instead of using a lego brick.

Sneak peak galore!

Hmm...

The computer being put into it is nothing to brag about. However, it is being built around standardized form factors. Thus, it can fit any micro ATX motherboard into it.

If this project flourishes, I will sell it off for an appropriate price. A versatile custom case, built from legos, I think is deserving of a 300-400 price range.

You said this is an old economy computer. What's the motherboard and graphics card? I'm dying to see low tech.

How much ram will it have? And I'm curious about the processor too.

Proper Use of the LEGO Trademark on a Web Site
If the LEGO trademark is used at all, it should always be used as an adjective, not as a noun. For example, say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGO BRICKS". Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs".Also, the trademark should appear in the same typeface as the surrounding text and should not be isolated or set apart from the surrounding text. In other words, the trademarks should not be emphasized or highlighted.

They're quite meticulous about this sort of thing.

Well at least that settles any debate. People who refer to them as legos really annoy me too. At least now I can have the satisfaction of knowing that they're wrong.

Specs:

Vaio motherboard
775 Pentium4 single core 3ghz
Nvidia 7300 LE
7200 RPM 200Gb drive
300 watt power supply

Also, I calculated how much this costs in raw parts, and it comes out to roughly a $300 order from Lego.com. Factor in the very intensive labor that this entails, and I'll be willing to let this finished case go for $550.

Let the bidding begin, computer not included.
