Hiya, Flash makes the file size HUGE. I wanted to participate in The Bully Collab but my file size is too large. I'm still editing it so it has barely any color, no sound, and one blur filter. an 8 second clip I made for youtube had an enormous file size too, and it's got no filters, only some small animation with stick figures. If anyone knows the problem, plz tell me.

Doesn't it not matter only the swf matters.

Most likely scenario is that you have either a massive wav file or several huge bmps imported. Either way, they'll be compressed when you export the swf, see File>Publish Settings>Flash tab > JPEG Quality/Audio Stream/Audio Event to adjust that
If you want to keep the fla size down, import jpeg/gif/png rather than bmp (use Gimp or Paint.NET (free) to edit/export externally), or import mp3 rather than wav - although it'll never loop as well.

I don't have those. No sound or bitmaps, just plain drawings and it's huge.

Yah, but I tried exporting it. I made it an .avi file and it was huge.

Maybe it's not 8 seconds. Maybe it's an hour. But seriously, do you have anything in your library?

It will still be a small .swf, .fla's are always pretty big.

Frankly, even if your talking about the .fla I'd still say that you should recheck whether you read the filesize right. I've never made a .fla bigger than 100mb and I've packed it in pretty good too. Are you sure it isn't 500kb cuz that actually sounds logical fo r15 seconds worth. But still, if it actually is half a gig than maybe you imported a movie on accident cuz that's the only thing I can think of that would make the size jump like that.

Oh, I didn't know that, but the 8 second one is larger than a 40 second one I have.

I checked again, and I read it wrong. either that or the Spam the Web did, because t was smaller, but still huge. It was not kb, itr was mb. and it was huge. I guess it will be better as a swf file, i dunno.
