Now, I'm intrigued. What, in your opinion, did the shorts look like, that they required the emphasis of being "fucking cool"? I don't really imagine any particular pair of shorts being particularly spectacular.

If something is a fashion, you should consider the possibility that a sizeable amount of people think it does look cool. Your opinion isn't the popular opinion.
Ok, I personally don't like when people gas ig to their knees, or wear caps sideways (and faded jeans are shit, but that's a completely other trend, at least over here). I do keep my own leans hip a bit low, and they have wide pantlegs.
