To answer your questionable question, Sonic still belongs to Sega.
He only appeared in one Nintendo game.
Sonic & Mario at the Olympic Games is a game made by Sega by the way.
Sonic also appeared VERY late in SSBB
and that was made by nintendo

He was in Super Smash Brother Brawl as well. And he is going to be in Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics.
Quoted for similarity to next quote.

You two need to re-read what I said.
Then you need to comprehend it right.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the aforementioned Nintendo game I was talking about--the one Nintendo game Sonic ever appeared in.
I added in The Olympic Games, because that can be mistaken for a Nintendo game, but it was Developed by Sega, and so will be The Winter Olympics.
I'm not wrong, you both just skipped one whole sentence, or read it wrong, or something.

Not true.
There's been several Mario games on the CD-i. So Mario may belong to Phillips.

They are all Published by Nintendo. At least in some regions. That is why I mentioned that and that is part of the reason why a lot of people consider them Nintendo games (like the original poster)
You and I are both not wrong, just saying the same thing in a different way.

Sega has all the rights to use Sonic. Nintendo has rights to use Sonic as well, but if they use Sonic in a game, part of the game's total sales goes to Sega. Take Super Smash Bros Brawl for example. Sega got like a small fraction of the game's total sales because Sonic was in it.
It's actually very complicated. I'm not sure if this is correct, but that's the main idea.
Hahaha, oh wow, it does not work that way at all.
Sega gave nintendo permission to use Sonic once for brawl. THey sold their rights to nintendo for one game. Sonic still totally belongs to Sega.
Same for the olympic games, exept it's Nintendo giving permission to Sega to use mario characters.
I can't believe I actually had to explain it.
Does tekken belong to sony?
Dark ressurection was on the PSP
