I'm looking to buy a graphics tablet and as I'm pretty broke I'm looking for a good product but not in excess of £50. Where would you recommend trying? I'm not too sure about the reliability of eBay because they could easily leave out any little defects such as pressure problems or a busted pen.

Any advice is appreciated.

I'd personally save up some money and get yourself a good one. It's a great investment, and after using a cheaper one for awhile you might resent getting it in the first place. Things to look for, so you don't feel shorted.

I'm currently using a Wacom Intuos 3:

Pressure sensitive
Tilt sensing
The ability for it to behave like a pen in the bounds of it's screen, instead of like a mouse (What I mean by that is if you place the pen in the upper right part of it's area, you want the cursor to instantly be in that area of the screen,... hard to explain)
Buttons on the pen (I keep mine "undo" and "right click") so your hands don't have to leave the pen
Eraser on the reverse side. (I've gotten horribly used to this, but hated it at first)
Buttons on the tablet itself (mapped mine to "delete" "save" "test movie" and a few others.

Just getting on that "feels" like you're holding a pen, will be a letdown. I'm not sure of the inexpensive options out there.

All sites currently down. Deal with it. <3

If you're not loaded with cash, the Bamboo Fun from Wacom does the job pretty well. I'd suggest the medium sized Bamboo Fun, I've never tried the small one.

If you're serious about your art and want to have maximum control, style and functonability.
then DONT waste you're time with a bamboo.
save up a get a wacom intous3.

Since we already see the world in three dimensions, I started wearing 3-D glasses around so that I could see things in 6-D... The sixth dimension is blurry and discolored.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I guess the Intuos3 is the best all around option.

Yeah, I would suggest waiting for a nice one. I had a terrible cheap ass tablet, and it was only a little better than using a mouse. Now I've got an Wacom Intuos3 (6x8) which is much much much better.
