I keep playing around with a ruler while I watch movies and whatnot. I think I should just buy a sword and play with that. Twirl it and stroke it and whatnot.
Yeah that sounds cool.

Any sword-buying tips? I just want a katana with a dulled blade because I know I'd eventually cut myself on it like a dumbass.

Where do I get that shit for as cheap as possible?

Butterfly knife? Illegal in my state I don't know about his, and plus he would hurt himself trying to do tricks with that baby.

I suggest Toys R' Us and buy the most expensive replica plastic sword they have.

Since you will be playing with it during movies, I suggest a short blade that won't slice your walls+TV.

A gladius would be a good idea.

Or if you don't care, get a claymore.

I've got no idea, but I've got one that's prime material. Usually strapped in my back, so I can slowly retrieve it when I feel threatened. Doesn't make that characteristic sound, though.

Still, it kick ass.

pox + sword sounds like an excellent combination to me.

Just make sure you take lots of pictures of yourself brandishing it with an angry finesse.

So you're an expert twirling a ruler around? What makes you think a sword wouldn't slip and chop your foot off :/ Try eBay, you might get a gangster Yakuza original, one that's killed a man half price.

I have a dull Chinese broadsword that looks exactly like this.
It was about $50 but I didn't buy it directly.

There are special martial arts/weapon stores, although the quality probably won't be very good.

Guess what?

Yes, get one, swords are awesome. They're probably the coolest weapon and they take skill to master and to show off with. They're shiny and lethal.

Drop me a PM to talk about junk, serious or silly.

Just make sure you buy a real one.

Getting an imitation one is like buying a water pistol. It might be fun for a little while, but just doesn't have the same affect of a real one.

I bought a machete when I took a trip down to Honduras. Having a sword around the house is fun. It makes an interesting addition to the decor of any room, and it impresses anyone that walks by and sees it. Plus, it's fun to play with.

Start fencing, buy a thin rapier of some sort.

Fencing is an awesome sport and it helps relieve stress by stabbing people. What could be better than that?

Note: only cool people can fence

Lurkers are more intelligent than most people. I use Gimp because I am poor.

I used to buy cheap pieces of crap swords for decoration and overall cumgurgling geeketry back in the day, and besides HSN at 2 in the morning and eBay these are a few good places to get cheaper-than-Hungarian-hooker prices on cutlery and replicas of mediocre quality:
http://www.swordsswords.com/Shop-N-Save.
aspx

http://www.hanzoswords.com/
http://www.swordsdirect.com/
http://www.trueswords.com/

But a good, truly functional sword should never and will never cost less than $1000, the top quality range starting at $10 grand. If you're feeling extra randy and want to dick around with a piece of balls-to-the-wall-fuck-yeah-awesome while you couch slug your evening away to the 7 Samurai collector's box set, go here and browse the high end gallery:

Because everyone should play with a real pistol right? Because it's more fun, right?

Of course!!

Buy an imitation sword so that you don't cut your own head off.

bwahahahaha eBay lol. Have fun breaking your letter opener made of recycled aluminum Dole mixed fruit cans 15 minutes you take it out of the box.

But then again, Pox did say he's looking for a cheap pos, so yeah, give eBay a whirl. You won't be able to cut through a warm bagel soaked in milk with one of those things, but at least you won't spend more than a 20 dollar bill as well.

Just don't be surprised when the blade falls out of the handle the first time you swing it at your cat while yelling "there can be only one!"

Haha, I may be no sword expert, but I have faith that there could be a quality one in there somewhere. Did I ever tell you that my mother bought an $8,000 ring from the 1930's for only a couple hundred dollars? She appraised them and they're legit with blue diamonds and platinum metal. Not bad for something cheap pieces of shit, eh?

And yes, Pox was looking for a cheap brand of dull katanas so eBay wouldn't hurt to give it a go.

there's an outdoorsman's type store around my way that sells swords and daggers and crap like that in addition to guns and fishing poles. maybe try somewhere like that?
