Seems everytime I take a politics class that involves US foriegn policy or my recent one which involves Terrorism, there seems to be a 9/11 truther. He doesn't talk about it outright, but you tell by hints and allusions that this gentleman is out of his goddamned mind.
For my class we were assigned to read the 9/11 Comission Report since, hey, this IS a class on terrorism.
When asked a quention involving it our Truth guy said he didn't read it. Since our syllibus (if you aren't in college yet you better start loving the word) it states that "you WILL be expected to be called on so read the material." The professor, calmly annoyed, asked why he didn't read it.
The Truth Guy replied, "Because I don't want to read something that I know is obviously a farce."
Our professor, by the way, in the recent years of this Truth movement has gone through arguments with these kind of guys before. So he said that, "He understands," because as a professor he has to respect the opinion of all students. Then he went into a discussion of the Truth movement and said that he didn't want his classroom discussion bogged down by conspiracy theories, which the Truth Guy tried to interject, but my professor said, "Let me finish."
He didn't want it to be bogged down by conspiracy theories. He then said that he has read many books and articles and even seen the popular internet video that sparked the movement. He then told him that if he was interested in discussing it he would more than glad to after hours, but not during class time.
He then asked if he actually ever read the Comission Report before. The Truth Guy said , "No."
My professor then responded by saying (and I'm paraphrasing), "I have gone out of my way to read material with opposing views. Yet, you haven't even read it. I would think being part of the Truth movement that you would have read the Comission report to get a collective sense of supposed oppossing views. Especially since its required reading material for this class and not reading it will affect your grade regaurdless of your opinion."
The guy, like most Truth movement guys, reponded as rationally as all the others, "Fuck this! I'm not going to be brainwashed by lies and hate!" Then proceded to stomp out of the room. I'm not sure what happened, but he came back after that anyway. The professor is just cool like that.
So because of this guy I'd like to give you my impression of the 9/11 Truth Guy,
"Ahem, hello I am a 9/11 truth guy. WAKE UP AMERICA! Can't you see the purpetuated lie that your own government has given you? It's time to stand up and demand the truth of what happened during 9/11! Now, I only have a fancy Bullshit degree in English Literature, but professionaly video watching has caused that degree to turn into a fancy Engineering and physics degree. So because of this I have become an expert on 9/11. Despite the common consensus between a large majority of the engineering community who are experts in their fields I obviously know more than them because I managed to find that one engineer who went to an offbranch of a real university and got his minor in I'm a fucking retard. Also, I have this nack of misquoting anything anyone says. Cause, you can't get people on this truth movement without spreading obvious lies!
Now my opinion doesn't always have solid facts, but it has a lot of speculation! That's all you really need to get something like this rolling! We all know it's allright to question the governments motives. Well its our goal to question those motives unreasonably. Look, we've already got famous actor Charlie Sheen on board with us! His contribution to the Truth movement is in no way hindered by his lack of knowledge of anything political or his ability to forget where he is once he see's a peice of ass walk by.
Look! It's time to start a revolution! This movie was popular in France! These guys obviously know revolutions or the ability to be friendly with anyone from the United States! Yay France!

I agree, the professer acted as any professional should in that situation. As for the conspirasit (please mind my spelling), he however didn't even read the census that he should have read weather or not he belived it was true. Mainly becouse it would give him more reason to say its falsified.
I do belive the case of 9-11-01 is of all major topics, an important one to address, though this would have gotten more views several years ago. I should know, i still post about North Korea and Russia.
But until someone can come up with actual facts and not just reasons of way the goverment would pose an attack, i really only see their attempts as a lesser plee for atention from a "traped scuicidal teen" in a sence.
Either way al-quada is a growing problem and did need to be faced, though a little more planning rather than action would be better. But Bush lost his chance of being a good president, in which he could, if it wornt for the Middle Eastern War, scince thats where he made most of his mistakes, though thats another topic for another thread.
Funny interpritation though, Ididn't know Charlie Sheene was a beliver of the "9/11 Truth" conspiracy.

The thing is, you know the guy saw the book on the syllibus he cooked it up that when asked a question he could say he didn't read it and then be given a forum to his agenda. This is evidenced clearly when the professor gave him the oppretunity to discuss it without an audience and he said no. Given how badass this professor seems to be he probably knew that the offer would be declined.
I have also not read the 9/11 report, but if I were in a class on terrorism I'd give it a glance. I mean, was the dude just there to have intelligeble words to yell at his father with?

Back on point though, your professor is brilliant. And the 911 truthers are pretty much done for, considering that Bush is out of office. It would be pretty hard to try to tie Obama to the 911 conspiracy also.

The professor raises an interesting point that many college students overlook the value in. How are you supposed to learn anything if you only read books written by people you agree with? You need to read the other guy's argument so at the very least you can be prepared to poke holes in them or to defend your own position.
My bookshelf contains Patrick Buchanan and Naomi Klein, Chalmers Johnston and Richard Perle, Michael Moore and Ann Coulter (at least one book by each author was not even a course textbook, merely purchased and read for my own personal knowledge). The truth general lies somewhere between the two extremes, but if you don't read the other side how are you ever going to make your own opinions. You won't. You simply become a mouthpiece for a certain agenda.

Regardless on your stand on the 9/11 situation, you'd be full of shit if you didn't see the collapse of WTC building seven as something other than suspicious. How is some random building that caught fire going to collapse the way it did? Argue it all you want amongst yourselves but I don't buy it.
Videos of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel fire in Beijing highlight the vivid contrast between the damage it suffered as it was completely consumed by roaring flames, yet remained standing, and the comparative sporadic fires across just 8 floors that led to the complete free fall collapse of WTC 7.
Now without turning this into a 9/11 debate just take a look at the WTC 7 building collapse and compare it to the ramped fire damage suffered by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and decide for yourself what you'd like to believe. Just don't try bullshitting or slandering me if you can't just discuss or give some constructive criticism on the subject.

I've seen this so many times on Youtube. Someone posts a counter opinion comment on a conspiracy nut's video, and they get attacked by the c-nuts and get their comment thumbed down, or the owner deletes the comment and blocks the poster. and on videos that debunk the TFHB'S theroies, also get their comments thumbed down (but the c-nuts get the same treatment also) and even marked as spam in an effort to get rid of it (i think the videos get flagged too).
when you do this, you're not a truth seeker, you're a biased fuckin' wack job who's a sheeple to your own cause.

Nah, don't even go there. That building didn't endure anywhere near the same degree of flames that WTC7 did at all. WTC7 had fires in a few floors and wasn't completely engulfed in flames like the
MOH(Mandarin Oriental Hotel) building was. Also what was it that caused the fires at WTC7? Embarrassingly enough for the MOH, it was supposed to have been some fireworks from the celebration of the Chinese lunar new year that started the blaze.
