N.G & Contructive Criticism 2009-02-09 06:30:05 Reply

First of all I would like to briefly shine light on the fact that this is not me Verbally abusing Newgrounds' system (such as the rating system) & rules of conduct. I find they work well and help moderate the site in a certain style and helps to create a feel of a living, breathing community.

My issue stands to kick the pretentious out of the aforementioned N.G community.
I have an anonymous review here that I found criticizing a small popular movie on Newgrounds found here
Here is the review:

"I digged the little animation man, with a bit of refining I reckon your next submission will be very entertaining!
Simple but awesome."

Now I'm sure everyone can see this is not a malicious or callous review of any kind, it is simply stating how the animation in question could be improved, which is essentially the effect a review SHOULD have.

So I'm begging you Newgrounds (well not really) BEGGING YOU! (well sort of) To allow the use of constructive criticism on Newgrounds. Thoughts?

Can you reformulate what the problem is?

Was this review flagged or something?

i totally agree, i can understand abusive behavior in a review, but helpful critisism is probably an asset to improving the artist submissions

If you don't like a movie, it's encouraged you use constructive criticism. Read what it says underneath the box where you insert your text.

We had some good times, Newgrounds.

Yes sorry, I was forced to delete some of the post due to insufficient battery power. It was posted as an "unhelpful" review. I have seen many more severe cases but this is just something I've wanted to mention for a while.

I don't understand the problem.

Are you complaining because it wasn't marked as helpful?
If so, don't worry about it. People sometimes go around marking things "useless" anyway, even when they aren't. Just write good reviews that aren't abusive and don't worry too much about it.

The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!
Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances

In my, just over, 4 years on Newgrounds I know about the N.G "douchebag" demographic and I'm perfectly willing to accept that. I find fault with it being condoned.

All that can be said is "tough". Newgrounds isn't made of the brightest most intelligent users brought together so they may constructively criticise entries. We're made of out-casts, of the mildly intelligent, of the bored, of the dark-humoured individuals and every other type of group that gets a kick out of degrading everyone and everything.

This too will pass.

Gosh I see you woke up on the wrong side of the coffin this morning.
Read my last post again, CAREFULLY.

Although the review did not sound abusive or useless, it did not say what could be improved. If you have any other questions about reviews and such please go to Malachy's Thread. I do agree with you, people should review better. One person I found who writes constructive reviews is The-One-Banana.

Well, there's a thread for this kinda shit on the "Where is, how to" forums which will be considered for the NG page MK.3. I'm too lazy to link to it but its there.
Considering you can't spell Constructive i'm not really going to look at the posts in this thread.

As for me, for fear of further bans, I'm just gonna say "NO COMMENT".
