We don't. We have pictures of galaxies thought to be similar to ours.

Either that or people recreate it by making realistic drawings or on a computer. We're pretty sure of what our galaxy looks like even though we've never seen it.

I imaging they got bits of it and worked it out from there, with there telescopes and other instruments they use, maybe even reflections off other things. I don't really know, just guessing, you'd need to find someone who knows something about astronomy. Try a book, lolol.

Think about it like this. When you take a picture of a crowd of people, you can see the shape of the crowd. Imagine each person is a star. This is how pictures of other galaxies are taken.
We are part of the Milk Way, on the other hand. We are in the crowd. We can't tell what the crowd like, except for the people around us we can see. Therefore, we don't have complete pictures of the Milky Way.

we're on the outskirt of the milky way, so when taking images of it, you'd see it from our perspective. then there are many many galaxies that have a similiar appearance, so with combined knowledge you'll be able to make a fairly accurate (?) image of it...

I think scientists take pictures through their telescopes, either that, or they estimate and build up the structure of what they think it looks like, then make it a picture and show everyone.

I know we've gotten pictures of hundreds of planets at once (or whatever it is I saw), but I don't believe we have a photo of the Milky Way. Maybe it's just a render?
