Kidney removed through vagina!

Apparently, this is supposed to encourage more people to donate organs. I don't know about you guys but the procedure doesn't exactly make me want to go donate a kidney. All they have to guide the operation are video cameras that they stick inside of your abdomen and navel. And then they insert a hollow tube with a bag at the end inside the vagina. Then, they cut off the kidney, wrap the bag around it, and pull it out.

But, the woman who donated is apparently doing perfectly fine, and was out walking the next night.

It all kind of sounds weird and scary to me. Do you think it will actually inspire more women to donate kidneys?

Well she won't be left with a disfiguring scar and will recover more quickly from it so I suppose it might make the decision to donate easier

And apparently they could only do it because she had a hysterectomy and her uterus was not in the way of the surgery, so doctors may not be able to make this a common practice.

Sounds painful and I can't imagine this encouraging more women to donate unless they have had a lot of experience with childbirth or they use proper aesthetic for the procedure.

However, the good thing is it won't leave any scarring from incision and just maybe out of theory it might be a more efficient way without scarring depending how each female patient reacts to the procedure.

No. Women don't urinate from their Vagina, rather from a whole between it and the clitoris. it's more like giving birth.

I don't think this'd encourage anything but staying away from the hospital and not giving organs. Well, for the females ofcours unless they did it through a penis too, that'd be even worse.

I don't feel very safe about this, it sounds like...Pain and impossiblity. I'd rather open my body and take the Kidney if i had to, getting it with a tube from the vagina doesn't feel very comfortable or safe.

What about psychological scarring? I'm a dude who only READ about this procedure and I don't think I'll be able to get over the mental imagery. That sounded so gross....

It's great and all that medical science progresses and finds new techniques, but this one just falls under the category of "just because we can, does that mean we have to?" But, I guess since it's safer and less painful than a normal surgical procedure, I can see the tremendous advantages outlined in the article and I have to say it I'm behind it. Still, gross dude. Having to witness childbirth was bad enough, so I don't think I could sit through a vaginal kidney extraction. This kinda puts a new perspective on the female wonder tunnel.
