Please by all means correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the statue would only be considered vulgar if it actually depicted a man being hit by a shoe. As it stands, the statue is something similar to a verbal euphemism. It would be like an American artist making a bronze bird and putting a bush next to it, to make a pun on 'giving Bush the bird', etc.

Actually his reaction time was just fine, otherwise he would have gotten hit by the shoe. What I was referring to was Bush's facial expression in the face of "danger", kind of that scared shitless look. As opposed to the strong, powerful look Maliki has.

it looks more like hes mid-motion to getting his hand to his face/getting his face behind his hand, in other words; still pretty unprepared (oh the ironing). either Maliki has awesome reflexes, or Bush just doesn't have much in the ways of reaction time...or grace.

thats complete crap and you fucking know it.

He's right.
Bush hadn't created a plan, unlike other presidents, for reconstruction-- Look what happened to Afghanistan. Left it alone completely.

Whatever money went to Iraq was for the purposes of perpetuating the war.

So Muntader al-Zaidi trial was adjourned today. They're confused about Bushs visit being formal or informal. Some of Moktada al-Sadr men in parliament are saying this is the most important trial since the invasion.

I think the sculpture is very creative. It should have been moved rather then deconstructed.

lol the shoe throwing guy says that he was tortured during his initial detention. According to witnesses, al-Zaidi was "severely beaten" by security officers after he had been dragged out of the room following the shoe-throwing incident. As the man's screaming could be heard outside, Bush said "That's what people do in a free society, draw attention to themselves. "A "large blood trail" could be seen on the carpet where al-Zaidi had been dragged by security agents al-Zaidi suffered a broken hand, broken ribs, internal bleeding, and an eye injury.

...and what news site did you get that from?

I'd have thought something like that would make mainstream news and be on it for days? Or at the very least, be on the arab news networks...

pretty much. flipping the bird and saying "Screw you, you American fascist pig!" would get you removed from the room. trying to cause a world leader harm gets you in FAR worse trouble.

Its more proof that people are indeed...... stupid. He commits a crime that in some countries would get you executed, then whines that he got the hell beat of out em.

I do wonder what the reaction would be if in our university central court, we'd have a sculpture of a peasant booting Queen Elisabeth.

It would be wicked fun, though.

:correct topic this time...

oh yes, all the fun in the world could always bring up the ages of the Empire.
If there was a sculpture of a pheasant throwing mud at King Arthur (Monty Python and the Holy Grail), same kind of respects, and a perfect side for the pheasant and Queen Elizabeth sculpture. :P

I walk up and slam my fist into your mouth.
You get up pissed off and ready to fight. I say "Freedom if expression!"

does that make sense? of course not. Had he taken a shoe off and swung it without throwing it or hitting anyone, it would be taken as an insult. However, hurling a shoe at someone with everything you have is attempted assault. Depending on the smell it could be assault with a deadly weapon.
