An artist makes a giant bronze shoe and plants a BUSH in it, then the governor orders it to be removed.

I love it! Personally i find the thing to be ingenious, and look at the detail on it. I wonder how much the artist could sell it for. I'm sure some rich anti American Iraqi would love to have the thing on his front lawn.

i thought the Orphanage was just a normal one, in which case it would have been assinine to say Bush was responsible for its creation, beacause there will be dead people in Iraq no matter what.

I think it's awesome. Getting orphans to help erect the shoe is quite symbolic, and placing it an orphanage is quite a statement aswell. By having the shoe removed, the Maliki government is just showing that they won't tolerate freedom of expression.

This isn't the first time a Bush has been insulted. A floor mosaic of the first President Bush at a Baathist VIP hotel invited guests to rub their soles on the then-president's face. You make a persuasive argument... But I think that there are two ways to look at it; if it is the property of the Iraqi government (which it probably is), then they have a right to control what goes on their premises so I would agree with you... However, if the orphanage is privately owned (like by a charity organization), then it is a breach of freedom of expression; the owners of the premises should have the right to display anything on their property.
