I personally am a heretic. I was baptized catholic but stopped believing in God at about the same time as I stopped believing in Santa.

Both Santa and God have a white beard and give you things that science also can give you.

Then how did the world start. Science has a few theories of course.

The big bang is popular. They say an explosion started the world. The explosion is supposed to have come from matter like colliding or something... ( idk) But where did the matter come from.

Basically there is no way that atheism can be right since the world couldn't start itself.

Fucking Atheists..

Am an atheist who condones this message. Let people keep there delusions, they become nervous and frighten when they don't have there holy spirit and there false promises of eternity in paradise. Sure I think that that stuff is insane, but eh... it's not hurting me for them to believe it.

If she is willing to let you believe what you want than you should be fine... if she can't love you as an atheist than that's too bad.

..Religion is bullshit. Praying to your so called god is like praying to a jug of milk. It will eventually happen in some form, say you pray to god for 100$.. you can either get a tax refund in the mail, or you can just get 100$ from your parents or some shit. If you pray to the jug of milk, the same thing might as well happen. Either way, if shes trying to convert you she obviously isn't happy with the way you are. Leave her behind.

Ignorance is bliss. Period. Ignoring your mind will cease to exist when you die makes you happy.

So you're saying the Universe couldn't have started itself. I don't know enough about the big bang to explain or understand it, but if God created the universe, what/who created God? I'm applying the same logic as you here. Believing that a being reigns over the universe is primitive, imo. I'd rather believe in Buddhism, where it's a system instead of a being.

After reading your posts, some of you are just looking at the small picture of christianity. Being a christian isn't about what happens after death. Being a christian isn't about going to heaven. There is much much more to this. I bet you didn't know this, even some christians will go to hell. Just because 1 christian pissed you off and you think the entire 2,039 million christians behave like that. I am a christian and i'm happy to be one.

Statistics show that Christian girls who make abstinence pledges are every bit as likely to put out. They just don't make you wear condoms.

I fully agree with this guy. I think that all you guys are doing is regurgitating other people's ideas
, and it showsin your speech/choice of words i.e. when you guys repeat cue words such as logic.

Personally, since my stance on the whole issue is blurry as of now, I figure that if and when I decide where I stand in this, either way I doubt I would have a problem with some whose beliefs are entirely different. So long as they respect me enough not to force their beliefs like a pretentious zealot would.

Shit sounds famiiar don't it. You should apologize for being a dick of a boyfriend.

Having gone through 8 years of catholic courses, I can tell you that life after death is the main concern of christianity. Why?
1. Creationism has been proved wrong long ago
2. Geocentricism too
3. The shape of the Earth too
My 8 years of catholic courses have taught me a few things:
1. We either go to Heaven, Hell or purgatory when we die
2. Notre père qui est aux cieux,
Que ton nom soit sanctifié
Que ton règne vienne
Que ta volonté soit faite, sur la terre comme au ciel
etc. (in case you didn't notice, that is the French version of some Christian nazi propaganda)
3. Leprosy is disgusting

Is she just plain Christian or Jehovah's Witness? Because that's what she sounds like to me, from what you explained. That's kinda their belief, don't marry outside the religion.

Actually, this can be accepted if we take the earth as the origin in the frame of reference. (I think Kepler agreed on that one)

3. The shape of the Earth too

I didn't know this was a Christian issue. They already knew that in ancient Greece.

True, it would be the center, but the other planets wouldn't revolve around the earth.

As far as I know, it was. Greeks knew it was spheric, the christians decided it would be a coin.

Hmm, I have to look up on movement of the universe around the earth when the earth is put into origing.

But the planats of our solar system would definitely turn around the earth. I'd show a simulation if I had the materials to build one, but you'll just have to take my word for it.

Wrong... the Islamic view of heaven is much more appealing to man's desires than the Christian view, oh wait Paley was Muslim.

Christians do not believe all non-Christians are going to hell. Christians do not believe all Christians are going to heaven.

Stop generalising Christian views on other subjects, false western ideas from the last 2000 years were the result of Europeans being wrong not Christians being wrong. You won't find Christians today who believe the Earth is flat, the Sun revolves around the Earth etc... unless you look at the baptists in the southern USA

A year and a half of mechanical physics don't want to believe what you just said. The orbit of the planets of our solar system has for a centre the sun, period. I'm not going to make a big demo with the centripetal forces formula and shit, but they can't be revolving around the Earth while such a big mass object as the Sun is there.
