What I'm about to say is not racist but is more of advice to Obama. At first when I had heard about Obama becoming president I was sceptical about how good he would do. So far he's been a good president and is doing alot to help out the economy. UNTIL, yesterday when he announced that he may be passing a law (are something) that makes weed legal! I mean I'm not saying weed isn't great and stuff, but It can realy mess up peoples life. But besides the effects weed could have on America, I'm talking about the fact that Obama is always talking about how he grew up in a hard nieghborhood where he try'd to stay away from weed and drugs and violence, WAY TO BREAK THE BLACK STEREOTYPE OBAMA!

If he is planning to make weed legal, he will still have laws on how much you can have, how much you can have and so on. Weed still wouldn't be thrown around willy nilly, infact, it probably still only be sold for medical purposes.

FACT: The only thing weed does to you that's bad is damage your lungs. It is not a family killer, for my dad has been doing it for a long time, and he's a really O.K. guy. It is addicting though, as it contains as much nicotine as 4 cigarettes.

Marijuana does not contain nicotine and is not addictive in the same way heroin or cigarettes are. Marijuana is addictive in the same way cookies and video games are.

Does it even matter? People today already smoke weed, even if it is illegal. If there was a law that makes weed legal, what will be the difference? Some people don't even care if it's legal or not. And just because Obama makes weed legal, it doesn't mean that people who have never smoked in life try it out, just cause it's legal. Maybe some people.
Even if this law is approved, I'm kinda sure that there will be limits, or else lots of people would get really high. But if he don't put any limits, he's fucking stupid (you know, there are a lot of people that actually care about the law, they don't want to get arrested for smoking a lot of weed).

Weed's been decriminalized here in MA. It was on the ballot during the election. What's funny is that decriminalizing pot was more overwhelmingly popular here than Obama was. Obama won with like 68% of the vote, pot decriminalization passed with nearly 75% in favor.

Well, it is a pretty racist statement, but not the most offensive, I'd guess.

I've gone back and forth as to whether I think it should be legal. I've done it, but I don't like it.

Right now, I'm leaning towards legalizing it. I understand its a dumb thing to do in general, but if you look at places where it IS legal, addiction (which I guess doesn't occur with weed? I've never believed either side's argument on that one, either) actually goes down. Plus, legalizing it provides two very useful pluses to the economy, which we could really use at the moment.

1) You can tax it, like cigarettes. That might help offset some of the various bailouts over time.
2) It keeps people out of jail. Think about that for a second. You realize that every time we put someone in jail for smoking weed and becoming a more mellow, if not stupid, person, we have to pay to keep them clothed and fed for the entire time they're in there. There are a lot of states that are contemplating letting out non-violent criminals early because of the sheer financial strain it puts on the cities, states, and federal government.

Again, I'm not advocating its use, I think the shit is retarded, psychosomatic, and it just gives me a headache, but making it legal might help slow down this recession.

Also, I don't know that I believe this claim in the first place, but there's my two cents on the matter.

Honestly, I think the biggest reason it'll never be voted on nationally is the government knows it'd be decriminalized in a second. If you put out an issue voters care about (especially young voters) they will turn out in droves. I remember 12th grade health class with the first year teacher (who was frickin hot, yay) and she got on the topic of weed and was trying to do the standard "weed is bad, yadda yadda" and probably assumed everyone would go along with that until like half the class started a debate with her she didn't seem terribly prepared for. Funny times, funny times.

Also, I'm satisfied we have some proof now, so the topic can stay.
