Vandalism. This day and age...

What is your view on teenage vandalism in this day and age..what do you think motivates teenagers to do it. Please leave opinion + age !:) And what do you think about using video games to drag them away from vandalising and trouble causing, thing it would work, or is it just stupid to imagine it?

I personally think the main 2 causes are that it's portrayed as being the epitome of anti-social behaviour and that it commands respect among some people.

I don't it can be solved like that, similar to how you couldn't just ban prostitution and tell people to watch TV instead(what, worst comparison ever).

well, I enjoy graffiti, but only if it's done with permission.

Breaking windows and shit is dumb. Ruining paint on people's car and stuff is also retarded. Basically if the vandalism causes permanent damage it is dumb.

Pumpkin smashing, I can see why people would do it but it doesn't appeal to me.

I never toilet papered houses as a kid but I have done a few recently and maybe that's why it is fun to me.
We also made a bathroom in this kid from my school's yard which was fun. Like I said as long as it's in good spirit, and able to be cleaned up I say go for it.

The reasoning behind this?

It was mountains of fun. There's few things funner than absolutely destroying something, especially if it isn't your own.

We didn't give a shit, we just wanted to have fun. We got in trouble a lot, we got put in jail, in juvie, got a plethora of tickets but we didn't stop because we didn't feel like it.

I don't regret acting like that. It was fun. I won't do it again, but those were some great times.

When I was 16, we went into my school when nearly everyone had left (they leave it open because the rec center is connected to it and due to night classes as well), we went in and we wrote at the school's patrol officer's door. I wrote: "I love you [Officer] Johnson! (Not. Fuck you bitch pig!!!)" He found out it was us, sadly, because my friend wrote on the door too, she wrote "PIG" in her lovely handwritting which the cop INSTANTLY recognized.

Just thought I should share that.

Belive me I have plenty of anger, I despose of it in the Cage. We did anger Destructive Fun Vandilisum. One funny moment ( not the worst because i dont like to type confessions) We grab a Pumpkin, start driving he gets up to about 70 in the Suburb and I hang out the window and cunk this Big ass Pumpkin into the back of a Panel Van, I caved the doors in....Very fucking asshole of me.

Looking back that was a Very Dick thing to do and regret it because it was Fucked up. But fuck it we were stupid kids and Kids do stupid shit so o well.

Commit vandalisim and you're an instant asshole. During my late teens my family experienced a couple acts of it. And i was hoping i would find out who did it before i turned 18 so i could beat the shit out of them.
Nothing has happened since then but if it does the shitheads will find themselves on the wrong end of a gun. Either a paintball, pellet, or bullet shooting one depending on the severity.

It speaks volumes about our society when we're expected to come up with ways to convince teenagers NOT to vandalise things. Honestly, giving them video games as a distraction is just the same as rewarding them with video games for their crimes. I say, you get caught vandalising something, you lose two fingers.

It was kinda cool, in my Movie Production class, we got to make a movie about vandalism. Me and a few other people from the class were the vandals, the rest were the camera crew. We got to go around pretending to key lockers, draw on the stalls and mirrors (White Board markers came right off :P) and we just had a lot of fun. I don't think there is any motivation, other than the popularity and attention grabbing,

Well coming from firsthand experience the most common reasons are boredom and drugs.

When me and my cousin were younger and we got bored during the summers we'd often go around to new subdivisions and break into the houses being made and smoke up in there, steal all the scrap copper to sell, and bust out some windows.... great fun back then.

I did it when I was a teen because I liked destruction, it was pretty much that simple. I had a lot of built up anger and aggression, and I liked to cause violence.

With that said, I still have some of that hate still in my heart, but most of the time I deal with it better than I used to. I'm a much more peaceful, love spreading guy, but every once in a while I get really destructive. About a month ago I got wasted at a bar and started jump kicking people's cars in the parking lot. Not very intelligent, being a 23 year old man and all, but shit happens I guess.
