I'm an emotional retard. A number of factors have contributed to this state (namely: early social awkwardness due to bullying, later social awkwardness due to being a fucking nerd (thanks Newgrounds!), the inability to form meaningful relationships after that two year snafu with a girl, and total shyness masked with over-enthusiastic extroversion), and it just stops me from having normal friends.

You know, normal friends?

I barely see people outside of college, yet there are parties all the time. I'm never invited to them, if I go its because I asked to tag along. No, that's not the same as being asked. I'm a social remora, I have an intense dislike for stupid social constructs and yet I wish to be a part of them.

Moreover, I'm posting this to one of the larger wells of collective stupidity on the Internets, dumkopf that I am. I wonder wonder wonder wonder....

If I could be okay with it, then I wouldn't be complaining. But I've got this engrained expectation you get with POPULAR GOOD UNPOPULAR BAD.

To clarify a little, I'm not talking about the popularity of the plastic people. I've long since evolved past the need for their approval. But for the first time in my life, in a university liberal arts program where I know everyone and everyone knows you, I feel that I'm being shunned by people who actually mean something, who are more than just the mundane socialites. I've never had Facebook, and I'm not looking to get into it. It's just so my friends can tell me about parties that I'll probably not go to because I always work during the weekend in the morning, and I don't know.
