Seriously. It seems that ever person on this planet has a label. Its either goth, or fag, or jock, or geek, or prep, or snob, or emo! Goths and emos arent very different, they just may dress or act differently. If an emo person does hurt them selves, dont be a cockhead and be a jackass to them. Ask them why. I guess that labels just help define all of us to be in different "cliques".
We're all just a tad bit crooked, yes?

We're humans. Everything needs names, labels, and classification. It's just the way we are.

Our brain needs to be able to compartmentalize in order to process the sheer amount of data thrown our way at any given time. It's the WAY that a person stereotypes that's the problem, not stereotyping itself, which is a necessary process of the brain.

I love labels. What's up with you? Labels help define us. Even if you look something, it is good for labels. Not necessarily label everyone, but moreso group people. It's good, healthy.

you can't clearly label an individual, I find it better just to label the herd.

If we didn't group and categorize things our brains would explode. This is an apple. Apple is a fruit. Fruits are edible. There isn't enough space, memory, whatever to handle everything as a single unit. Our brain needs categories.

Look at it this way, if we didn't call African-Americans the n-word, then what would they use? The n-word belongs to them now.
They gain a word, we lose one. Fuck.

Society is filled by idiots who think labels make it all better when it only pisses people off more or makes them more dicksuckworthy. Society will always be full of labelers.
labelers are people with no lives and love to suck dick

They're also...
people, animals, bipeds, primates, whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, beauties, cheerleaders, students, graduates, parents, mothers, fathers, children, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, dreamers, sleepers, dope heads, bums, leaders, bosses, slaves and so on...
Labelling is essential to human comprehension.
As with most things, it's really only a problem when it's abused.

Labeling others makes us feel better about ourselves. Why did you think people did it?

Labelling also makes us feel like we belong with others too. Labelling also makes us more efficient at responding to social hierarchy. Labelling also makes us feel worse about ourselves.

Why the fuck not? Labels don't harm society. If I go up to black guy, and think that he is black, I am not a stereotypical, racist dick. HE IS FUCKING BLACK. Just like if somebody is on the basketball team and the football team, I am going to assume that they play a lot of sports and enjoy playing them. Thus making them a jock. And if somebody cuts themselves, cries all the time, hates life, wears tons of black and makeup, I am going to assume that they are a whiny little emo bitch. But, if you think it is better to rob everybody of their uniqueness by not pointing out or even recognizing the obvious, by all means, go ahead.
And I can tell that you are clearly an emo who hates being called an emo. Emo.

I class people into three different categories.
Asshole, mega-ultra-douchebag-asshole, and not an asshole.
So far, the first two have been filling at an alarming rate. The third one? Only a few people in there. And I'm in the second one.

We label each other so we have someone else to blame things on.

Think about it:
In a grocery store, everything is labeled so you know what to expect. Now apply that to life.

We label each other so we fit in and can cast others out I guess. Seems cruel when you take time to think about it.

It's a sheep thing, they need labels so they don't have to acknowledge one another or pay each other any thought

I don't understand why people dress in all black, wear chains, paint their faces, etc. And complain about getting called goths or emos or juggalos. And yet i used to do the same stupid shit.
Human nature is a strange, sad thing.
