Do tell.

Mmm, apparently the image didn't come with it. Well I had 3 friend invites and 5 new chats on Facebook, that's why.

can someone please, for the love of any god that might reside in whatever celestial plane exists above mere mortals, explain to me what the average person's fear of silence is about?

great now that i've thought about it it's fuckin loud.

i don't understand how someone can wake up, flip on the TV, and spend 12 hours in the fucking cacophony without batting an eye.

and suffering...

I always thought silence was pretty comfortable.

If any of you guys had ever been in an anechoic chamber you would have a little different opinion on real silence. It's literally sickening.

I got dizzy and nauseous from it.

That said, silence in the more practical term is just as important as noise, and therefore equally respectable. Meditation in good silence can be quite enlightening.

It's interesting how significant the effect of a room that doesn't behave the way you think it should, as far as sound is concerned, can affect your mental state.

The room is free of reflections. it's a completely 'dead' room. You could obviously still hear the sound of fingers snapping, but there'd be no reflections of any kind, which would definitely be hugely unsettling.

In pure silence, my tinnitus would be the only thing that I would hear. It would drive me utterly insane. I'm with LaForge on this one, utter silence would be bad.

When I brought up the subject of silence, I really wasn't suggesting complete absence of sound. I refer merely to an absence of WILLFUL sound. That is, not turning on the TV, not having a douchey roommate who talks on the phone without stepping out, things like that.

There are plenty of people afraid to be in a room alone with their thoughts, and that vexes me.

Tbh I hate it when people go to sleep listening to music, similar to people who listen to headphones while reading.

I know you have your health problems and all, but this sounds like a mental thing and not a pain thing. Learn to be at peace with yourself no?

K grumps, I wont bother asking the question politely next time.

Anyways,
So I tried to find a good local electronic music forum.
I swear my eyes are bleeding from the color design of the last 3 sites I've looked at. One was blue and turqoise the other BLACK AND GREY

This black and orange is so damn refreshing tbh.

Despite what I've heard on hallucinations and just the potentially disturbing environment of an anechoic chamber... I think it would be a great place to sit and meditate. That's one of the reasons I love floating underwater... you start to eventually focus more on your heartbeat than anything else. It's interesting.

I'm getting pretty sick of it. It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't the same image on every single page.

There used to be different art pieces for the Forums and for pretty much everything else (even userpages), but having Pico and company on every single page can be a bit annoying. :/

I'll tip my hat off to the guy who drew this; it's lovely, but we need some variety too. Which reminds me... What if there were random images per section (say, the Games portal had a set of three backgrounds to choose from), and each time you go onto a page from the Games Portal, a background image would show up at random. Being a wiki editor, I know wikis have that function, but what about sites?

.....that's just an idea; you guys can tell me how feasible it is.

call me maybe is such a terrible cheesy song. It's just getting easier and easier nowadays to write a few lyrics about a boy, and write one simple chord progression that everyone uses to get popular. :/
