Sorry to interrupt the fun, but serious question here. Would anyone be interested in a competition where you have to write an arrangement/remix of the Epitaph of Seikilos? It's a 2,000 year-old Greek tune (you can find a .mid on Wikipedia, I'll have to check the legal stuff for that though...). It actually is pretty simple (in the key D starting on the 5th chord (V), or A minor, and pretty much staying on that chord), aside from being in 6/4. There would be no set guideline on the genre, and I honestly think it's simple enough that you could change the rhythm a little bit and do anything with it.

Just wanted to post here before asking mods and getting things together... if there's no interest, I'll just pursue an arrangement as a personal side-project. I honestly think it would be epic and such a sign of homage to the simple origins of music to see this tune brought out of obscurity.

Any thoughts?

The other tune I was going to try was the Delphic Hymns, but those are harder and in 5/8.

I would be interested (but when am I not?)

I don't know that too many others will get excited about this - taking anything pre-renaissance and trying to make it fit what they usually write. I could be wrong though (kinda hope I am).

Your best bet is to start a new thread where you say it's going to happen, give the rules, ask for judges, make a deadline and prizes. Then if, say a week, there aren't too many signed up, scrap it. That's just my advice.

I just had the most unwelcoming welcoming ever.

So i signed up at the Emo Corner fourms and I was chating in the chat box, and this one user kept on calling me BirdyBalls, and Maxsly Gassm Spermsecki, instead of BirdyBells and Maximillion Ashum Piasecki.

PM'ed a mod there though.

So I'm not the only NGer in the Tribes beta then? Time to do some headhunting methinks.

Augh

Who else here hates it when you make a pattern in your DAW, repeat it twice in the playlist with the intention of changing up some things in the second repetition, you change these things and then realise you forgot to make it unique?

I do that all the time. Fortunately though, I don't usually make too many big changes before I realize I didn't make it unique and can Ctrl Z back far enough to save myself completely redoing the other pattern.

I should probably do the same... Cause I have screwed up entire projects before and been unable to undo the mistakes. I only have mine set to something like 20... Which gets used up real fast when you're clicking around like a maniac.

Worst comes to worst you can always load up an older autosave and copy the score(s) over. Unles syou were working for so long that any autosave with the old score is gone ._.

I've lost a few projects because I forgot to even turn the autosave on... I have it set to 10 min now though. I haven't lost anything recently fortunately, but then.. I also haven't been doing much writing recently either.

Guys guys guys.... The redesign, it has a date!

... Sort of.

Tom Sayz:

January 11th will mark the release of Abobo's Big Adventure and in place of that Abobo promo we'll be introducing the REDESIGN LAUNCH COUNTDOWN. The date on this countdown will be the final, guaranteed date of launch

At least now we'll know when we'll know about when the redesign happens.

New Year
Because I kinda doubt I'll be online at midnight, happy new year and all those nice new year-ey things that people say from Budapest! We've only been here one day, but signs are pointing towards a pretty sweet countdown party! I hope everyone else will enjoy their night, dudes (and the few dudettes. ;)
