But as nice as it is to reminisce, I do like the ability to design my own disc faces. My wish however would to have them be displayed on the actual song page, not just on my audio page.

They would have to implement a whole bunch of back-end stuff for that to be possible... I'm not sure how feasible that would be. I'm assuming you mean 'forum organised' competitions?

yeah last I heard according to tom - but that was a while back - who knows if that's still the case, and who knows when it'll happen.

Lego Stealing My Monies!

So, I just noticed that one of the videos that my music has been used in on youtube is monetized. I usually comment and thank the uploader for crediting videos I find with my music in it... as I did with this one... However, when I thanked them for crediting, I also had AdBlocker Plus activated on my browser, which effectively kills adds on every site I visit, including the ones placed in youtube videos.

However, I disabled it earlier today trying to get a form to show up properly, forgot to re-enable it, and was checking to see if there were any comments on my, or other people who've used my musics, videos. And what do you know, this video (Which is promoting Lego) has well over 6,000 views (More than my entire youtube profile combined), and has monetized ads all over it.

I'm not really entirely sure how to handle this, I just told the guy to rather provide me with compensation for breaking the license my music was under or remove the song or I'll have Youtube remove it for him.
I'm not sure how much money a 6k view video would have been able to make, as I've yet to monetize any of my videos (Because they all contain copyrighted stuff, such as pictures or game footage).

But think I'd be losing much if I let him get away with just removing the song? I'm kind of pissed that someone's been making money off my music right beneath my nose... But I've never had to deal with this sort of thing before now, so I wasn't entirely sure how to handle it.

Their video? No, "Standard Youtube License"... Regardless, my song is under Creative Commons, both here and on Youtube, which means they're not supposed to be using it in a monetized video.

And SBB, I'm poor. Several dollars would buy me a meal I would otherwise go without. Youtube partners make a hell of a lot more off their videos than NG Musicians make off the ad revenue system as well... And from what I know of the youtube system, this guy is a partner.

That's true. However, I'm not sure whether this makes you entitled to any of their money. The most you might be able to get is removal of the song, I'm not sure how far your rights extend under creative commons.

I'm not too bent out of shape wanting monetary compensation really, I'll be happy if they just remove my song from the video. I'm mostly bent out of shape because they're making money off of my music at all, without ever even asking my permission to use my music in the first place. I really only mentioned it for the possibility... Doesn't hurt to try, I've no doubt he'll just remove the audio and leave it at that.

And I don't have a problem with people using my music in their videos without asking me first usually, the issue is he didn't ask my permission, then put it in a monetized video that's basically advertising Lego.

I think, with the redesign, we should make the Rules stickies pop out more. At the moment, they are easily overlooked because they don't stand out at all. If we made them more noticeable then there would be much less reason for ignoring them I think.
