awesome
If you integrate or differentiate an audio signal you get a low pass filter or a high pass filter respectively
I wonder what happens if you square it... or raise e to it... or divide 1 by it.. or take the factorial of it
I know a rectifier works by taking the absolute value of an audio signal, and that a digital low pass filter averages it... anyone know of plugins/programs that let you do math to audio signals? I sure would like a differentiating guitar pedal

Somebody Buy Me A New Guitar
Seriously... I'm getting tired of trying to learn solos to find out I need 22+ frets... My 6 string only has 21 frets. And shifting a section of the solo down an octave is just awkward.

Correct, although that will most likely not be for another year and a half or so. I've been gradually moving through the social minefield of telling people, and will probably start living full time outside of work in a few months. There is the prerequisite of being completely full-time before getting the necessary letters for surgery.
In other news though...
Yay for new toys! Just bought a Numark NS6 today, I'm uber excited. Plus, Stutter Edit was on sale for $99... so I picked that up as well. :D

And after several hours of frustration... running around the house looking for stuff and looking up various things on the interwebz...
Here's the breakdown:
Torq is being run as a slave via ReWire into FL Studio. Torq runs all of the audio mixing and such. The NS6 controls that, and the Korg Nano Kontrol allows me to make use of additional effects inside of it. From there, all of the audio gets routed through FL Studio.
FL runs additional effect processing, but also allows me to choose how I route my master and cue audio. The cue channels run audio directly back to my headphones and also allow me to route mic audio in if I'd like. The master channel gets run through an additional effect loop (Running Stutter Edit and probably going to play with a couple others here)... and then the audio gets routed through a limiter before getting routed back out the NS6 and off to the speakers.
Oh yeah, almost forgot to talk about the mic. I'll probably invest in some sort of headset soon that has a mic built in... because I'm able to route my mic through effects as well... (Autotune, filters, compressors, etc)... which then also can be routed through the main effect loop.
Basically it's a big monstrous pile of live audio badassery. And yeah, if I get bored I can switch channels and use the keytar to run live synth lines instead of controlling Stutter Edit with it. ;D

What you said could mean two things, but either way they 100% dont matter. Also nothing about them have anything to do with mixing either.

Basically this. Composition/writing =/= to mixing. Completely unrelated.

If you are talking about musical phrasing... 8 and 16 bar patterns are very common in many types of music, especially electronic music.

Impressions of Norway (so far)
Cold in summer and autumn, wet and stormy right now (lost some concerts because of the weather, some roads were closed because of floods and stones falling), but when is sunny the nature looks AMAZING !!!
Also, Norwegians seems to be some of the nicest and warmest people, they told me that chocolate cake is sort of national dish.
In public libraries you find Ac/Dc, Squarepusher and stuff (probably as "last century classical music").
Here's a pic taken by my wife:

Shit... that looks like it's straight out of Lord of the Rings or Skyrim (or whatever other fantasy land you can think of). Just absolutely stunning and beautiful. Hopefully I can travel there someday and see an amazing view such as that.

For some reason, when I saw this post yesterday, I thought it said--
Not that anybody remembers what happened 10 years ago.
--and I was like, "I don't remember what happened ten years ago."
Then I thought, "What did FatKid do to get himself owned ten years ago?"
Don't judge me.

Obama was killed
In my dream. No seriously. He was looking at some sort of painting exhibition when all of a sudden this guy shows up behind him and cuts his throat with a giant knife. The last thing he said was 'What of all this was actually real?!', and his killer whispered 'The carpet...', and then he drops dead. I have no clue what this means, but I'm kinda freaked out because of that.

Trying to come back to composing
Don't think this is worth a topic. My audio subs - don't bother checking them. I tried making music on a DAW for a while and had some success, but more often I would get discouraged. So I took a two months break. Now the urge to compose has returned, but I am kind of afraid to scare this feeling off.
I mean, I write stuff on the guitar, but DAW wise I am a noob. When I open the DAW, I just get overwhelmed by all the stuff. I mean, I know how to use the DAW, but I don't know how to execute many tricks and I even don't know how they're called. And I guess time is another issue. When I look up stuff and analyze I lose time, and hey, don't get me wrong, I enjoy this hobby and I would spend countless hours playing, composing if I could, but the situation I am currently in doesn't leave me with much time D:
So yeah, guys, can you recommend me some reading material, which I could perhaps tackle during school breaks and etc? Input will be greatly appreciated

Not that I am a good, but ambient and trance interest me quite a bit. And honestly, I started to develop a taste for classical D:

So, Dream Trance? I love that genre...
For classical, I love Debussy. I just bought a whole book filled with Debussy songs... his stuff brings back so many memories.
