I had my account frozen with about $1200 in because apparently the Australian government doesn't like it when you have money they don't know about. They say "cause terrorism lol" but they really mean "we want to be able to tax you more".

She claims someone illegally took some money out and so it was frozen.

zero-gravity, it all boils down to three aspects-

1. What genre of music you will endeavor to create.
2. Your knowledge of music theory.
3. How focused/committed you wish to be on music composition.

If you want to compose Ambiance, per instance, there are programs that have a better setup for that (or so I am told). If you know nothing of music, shy away from programs that rely heavily on musical notation and lean more on either piano-scroll or related notation/entry methods. If you plan to do it as an occasional hobby with no real focus, consider a free program until you get going.

Money also matters. You can't buy very good stuff with $180, but you can get a start on what you need.

If you don't know much about music but want to write it, I heavily caution you to enroll in a music theory class or two, or even browse this forum or elsewhere for tutorials (I know of a few good basic music theory guides out there... and there ARE tons of resources out there) before even putting down your pen, so to speak.

I'd just like to note something here... By no means do you need to know music theory to make good music. It can certainly help speed up your learning process, but it's hardly a requirement.

Music theory doesn't teach you how to write good music, it only teaches you how everything in the music works together. You could know all the music theory in the world and still write terrible music, just as you could have little to no knowledge of music theory and compose a masterpiece.

Creating music is more about creativity, imagination, and soul than it is about cold hard knowledge.

That said, if you already own FL Studio, that would be a great place to start, as it is pretty much the most beginner friendly "high end" DAW on the market. But just because it's easier to get into doesn't mean it's not fully capable in the hands of a professional.

Not sure how you'll get money from a lesser known online money source that most websites don't offer as a medium of $ transfer...

I can understand your mom's compunction; paypal = virtual credit card. Take a glance at the contract, and note the frkin ridiculous interest rate. Not to mention the nice little note they sent to me with that explaining that "Financial companies have a right to whore your personal information out to whoever they damn well please, it's not just us!" Fucking socialists. Hurry up and pay me NG, so I can cancel this shit and move on with life :P

Oh, 2, 5, what's the difference? I mean, I don't rape kids, but they look so similar!

For real though, I hate it when I do that to other people's songs. I'll shoot 'em a PM sayin' how I'm sorry sometimes, lol.

No, that's paypal, promise; this info came in a nicely designed paypal envelope, plus you'll notice in the pic I posted "Paypal Smart Connect Account" just under the GE Money Bank title. I'm mistaken in assuming they charge that interest on everything; its just a special program they offer where you can tie a line of credit to your paypal account. still...they're some shady fuckers, and I don't like doing business with them. 27% interest..come the fuck on...ridiculous.

I have a long tale to tell, so prepare for a wall of text, about how don't understand some people and how stupid those people are.

A few days ago, an acquaintance of mine got kicked in his arse by some random dude. Wanting to punish him, he and his buddies (six of them) fucked up that dude on the spot and got into a fight with that dudes' amigos. Judging by their story, the friends were winning, till the dudes broke bottles and rushed at them. So yeah, run away etc.

Today I get a call on my cell, waking me up from my day nap. The guys were saying that they needed my help, that they got into a fight. "Alright, if they're in trouble, they're my classmates, I'll help em, why not?" - I thought to myself. I dressed as fast as I could and rushed to the spot, only to find them alone. They were gathering people to go "hunting" for the dudes they fought earlier.

Basically they wanted to walk around their so called "turf" to provoke them and fight back. They thought the idea was fantastic, I didn't, but I was there and I decided to stay, and go with them.

To cut a long story short, we almost got into a fight three times, but something/somebody always stopped us. First one of us said: "We gotta circle the block and ambush them!" Okay.

Second time some adults stopped us, third and final time - the police stopped us. Anyway, I suggested just to give up and leave. They agreed.

So yeah, they want to continue tomorrow, but said - fuck that. I seriously don't get it. They say that they want to "punish" those guys for attacking one of our people or something.

Anyway, the end, I don't understand why go looking for trouble like douches and what can you achieve by beating up some random dudes

last part, they think of themselves like heroes for doing this.

You decided to go with them? That doesn't make you any better than them, man.
I can understand that you went to help them the first time, but saying that they are all idiots while you joined them in a 'hunt' and thus encouraged their idiotic behavior.. kinda puts you on the same level from my perspective.

I liked the "lololol dubstep is the only original genre nao!" comment. It made me laugh - as someone who's studied modern history of music and the recording industry - since dubstep is rooted in several earlier genres (like dub, reggae, DNB, and house).

Yea in America stuff like that doesn't really happen, not even in worse neighborhoods much.

But in europe, namely italy, thats a daily routine for me and my posse lol.

My advice, go to a school with people with a degree of intelligence. I'd guess the highschool system works the same in Russia, with science, math, "classics", tech, etc appropriated high schools. In italy people who aren't in Classics or Science are usually not the best crowd or they're just not too intelligent. Most my friends aren't in science or classics -_-

I guess you can say so... But I wasn't there to "hunt", more like to watch what happens next. And I guess I didn't leave because my "rep" would fall down in their eyes and they would be annoying like hell, saying that I am coward, (which I am not) gossiping and shit, and mind you, I see them daily at school.

Then again, I could just stop giving two fucks about what they say, but just, those guys are 70 % of my social life right now. My bandmates/real good friends are at the uni and I see them rarely.

yeah, i get it, you'll say that I worry about the opinions of others too much, but those guys really can get to you and it pisses you off
