Music Opinions

The "I don't like" versus "this shit sucks" is becoming a traditional concept in contemporary musical discourse. Opinions shouldn't have to hurt anyone's feelings and negative opinions should at least have some sort of integrity. If you're going to be cynical then you had better be 100% correct in your opinion or else you're just gonna make yourself look like an asshole. The thing about music is that it's a subjective art form and it's near impossible to be objectively correct with an opinion. If you're going to give someone feed back, make sure you know what you're talking about first.

My thesis for school was undancable dubstep to which a friend of mine said "but how do you dance to dubstep in the first place?" To which I replied "it's all in 4/4 dumbass. Figure it out."

I'll admit I didn't - I have now - Nand I weill admit that was beautiful - but like I mentioned - that was becasue it lacked the one element that is in every newgrounds dubstep song that I hate - the dub - the different patterned percussion is fine - gives you that ponderous hesitant feel.. and that song also bordered on ambiant, which is a fave genre of mine, aside from pprogressive house and trance - If I heard more of THAT kind of dubstep on newgrounds I know I wouldn't hate it.

Sadly, I have never heard that type of dubstep on newgrounds before.

Perhaps they should make a chill dubstep genre? I'd def. listen to that - but not extreme dubstep, or whatever you wanan call it that everyone seems to be making these days.

And chilled Dubstep is fuckin awesome as well...doesn't really deserve a "ur doingg itt wrung"...my attitude towards Dubstep comments is like xKore said, the difference between "I don't like/ hate this" and "This is shit.".

huh.. how extraordinary.. listening to chill dubstep Is like listening to music the way it should be - it's beautidful stuff - for the first time ever I don't have to listen to the song with an anticipated wince, waiting for the beautiful intro of the song to just be totally destroyed - without the "need" to roll out a complex wubby bass part of the song I feel the song is freeer to remain diverse in other ways and thus maintain my interest.

The most wub you get i find is more a waawaawaa which imo is a lot easier to tolerate :)

I am happy - so thank you.

I still hate commercial dubstep though - and always will for the reasons I have mentioned.

I know what you mean. I get people trying to do that shit with moombahton, dubstep, and this new bastardized form of progressive rock, called djent or some shit like that. It's absolutely annoying. And I've heard nothing, but "OMGZ DUBSTEP!" or "OMGZ DJENT!" for the last 4 months straight and it's becoming exceedingly annoying to where if the next person to come up to me and mention either and try to shove it down my throat, I'm going to kick them in the genitalia.

At our schoolparties, dubstep is also played a lot. When I dance to it, I always bend my knees at every beat (not fully, but at about 60-70 degrees) while swining left to right and doing cool stuff with my arms. Either that, or we all create a moshpit.

Sorry mate but djent has been around since before you were born lolol.

And as an actual term, has probably been in use since at least 2003, if not earlier.

I can never understand when people get irritated by things like this. You must be pretty highly wound. Please try your luck and kick someone in the dick, and don't forget to post about it in here ;D

Meh, it just has to deal with the popularity it's gained in the last year or so. I'm tired of having to hear everyone talk about Animals as Leaders and other similar bands. I get it, the people in the bands are decent musicians, but does everyone have to ride their dicks?

Also, I'll definitely get video or pics or something if I do. And I shouldn't really have to worry about retaliation from anyone, since half the people that talk about these bands are wimpy guitar nerds who spend most of their time either beating off or wanking on their instruments.

I don't get why it's particulary Dubstep that people are discussing about a lot. Why not Dirty Dutch music? (first genre that came to mind)
