shit, i completely forgot to apologize myself. sorry for coming off like a dick env :p

But you're right I wouldn't go into it thinking it's just a fun thing to do, and DEFINATELY don't do it if you're looking for something quick. I didn't get any sleep and everytime i got up to go to the bathroom I had forgotten how to walk and had to reteach myself and didn't recognize where I was because it was dark. The entire trip lasted probably 5-7 hours, I'm not entirely sure when it wore off but yeah it was kind of scary not knowing how to walk correctly or where I was. Also I couldn't fall asleep at all because everytime I closed my eyes I'd be looking at myself trying to sleep.

ohhh man. sorry for laughing but i know all of what you just described too well. it's been probably five years but if i remember correctly the last time i tried dxm was during a band practice. i couldn't play my drums because i couldn't hold my sticks and hit things. eventually i just started falling asleep on my kit. it felt like forever but i think the practice only lasted like five minutes. i tried to take a nap but i just couldn't stop feeling cold and itchy. i gave up with trying to get rest and i tried telling my friend jack that i was on dxm but i couldn't remember how to use my mouth to make sensical words. he figured it out though. the bassist was also tripping and he had managed to find a way to convey his thoughts...

I like Sine's IDM, Laqur's dumbstep, and Steph's ambient stuff. Debatable if they are up and coming though.

The lounge

Wow, I go to evening school for a couple of hours, come back, and we're 2 pages further. What I can make from it is that calamaistr was being everything but modest, and a lot of self-advertising 8-bit stuff and mockery, mixed with a bit of DXM talk. Right?

Well, wow.

also lol meta

Ever since I got my kindle (like 1.5-2 months ago), I've been addicted to reading. Uncle loans has been bestowing me with science-fiction (as 97% of his huge-ass literature collection consists of the stuff, and I've loved every bit of it. DO YOU GUYS READ?

yes I do believe calamaistr's stuck-upedness is finally getting tiring.

oh wait, it never was untiring - in fact - from the moment his first post was posted here his reputation was cemented as I recall.

ignored - moving on.

hmm perhaps I came off a bit harsh there.. but really cala - we get you're a classical composer and that you're steepedi n the old traditions and stuff - but the reality of it is - most people on this site - aren't.

Hey guiz, my stuff ish all classicalleh inphluensed, all of dish eletromonic musak ish shat, i' shld b tkn dn ore i beh angy!!!!!

Honestly, after the last year of composing electronic music (Not dance/techno mind you) I've grown to appreciate it far more. Yes, it sucks that it has become so overly popular and so much of it out there is generic, but this goes for ALL types of music, and this doesn't not include music of the "classical" definition. People back then where stealing from other musicians left and right because, hell there was no copyright on music, all you had to do was either wait until the person was dead then rewrite it with a slightly different melody or harmony, then boom! Instantly it became their song. Yes even the biggest names of classical no doubtingly did this at least once in their lifetime.

Anything thought-provoking and unique is pretty cool. Right now I'm reading this fiction anthology by a huge group of writers and webcomic artists.

8bit sillyness

First, let me preface that I focused my entire Halloween DJ set around 8 bit/VG/chiptune influences. So I'm obviously a fan of the genre.

However, saying 8-bit is superior to high fidelity instrumentation is a ridiculous statement to make. By the very distinction of the two, 8-bit isn't capable of making all the sounds.. well.. everything that isn't 8-bit can make. If you want to make 8-bit sounding tracks with a full out synthesizer/DAW/etc however, you can with the right effects.

So it just doesn't make sense... if you follow what I'm saying.

On a side note... nice track Sine! Did you just insta-spawn that tune lol?

Reading

Is a very uncommon thing in my daily routine anymore... aside from reports for work, and random web browsing. Seems like I haven't picked up a book in ages.

Up and coming

In case anyone missed the memo... Cornandbeans... aka Space Laces seems to be going places quick. The fact that he already has a track in the Beatport Top 100 Electro House chart with only his second release definitely says something. =D

On that note.. any other current/former NG peeps releasing tracks on there? It'd be cool to get a list going somewhere of who all from here is signed to whatever labels and/or making major releases.

Machine of Death: A Collection of Stories About People Who Know How They Will Die

That looks pretty cool. If i had the money i would sure as heck buy this book. Maybe next month, maybe.
But i am more of a satire type when it comes to books like this one
The Alphabet of Manliness

Mainly i read comics more then books, its just more fun to read. You can get easly sucked into the story. Since its a comic you get to see much more cleary whats going even in the smallest detail.
One of my number one comics actually a Graphic Novel is A contract with God.
It has more of adult theme and is based on true stories of the average jewish people. You can really see that since alot of the stories have a greek tragedy. A good read indeed in my opinion.

Movies

I haven't really watched any new movies lately. I have, however, watched 'The fifth element', as recommended by loans. Quite a good sci-fi one.

Science-fiction

I've been reading a lot of it lately, and there's a weird thing about, of which I'm not sure that just happens to me. When looking at those disputes at the world, like N-Korea & S-Korea now, I just get the feeling they're so stupid, when you put it all in perspective against that giant universe out there.

If the people who cause such disputes were given some perspective; an idea of how little they are compared to all that's out there, wouldn't they be embarrassed?
